We are looking for a skilled Senior PCB Design Engineer with 3+ years of experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, and design validation for high-speed, mixed-signal, and embedded electronic systems.
The role involves developing reliable and production-ready PCB designs for defence, aerospace, and industrial applications. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PCB layouts for high-speed systems involving DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, and other high-frequency interfaces.
- Perform Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis to ensure optimal circuit performance.
- Define PCB layer stack-ups and develop impedance-controlled designs for high-speed and high-density applications.
- Use simulation tools to validate signal performance, crosstalk, impedance matching, and other design parameters.
- Optimise component placement and routing to meet performance, manufacturing, and cost requirements.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT) principles to ensure product manufacturability and testability.
- Coordinate with fabrication and assembly teams to resolve design and production-related issues.
- Prepare detailed PCB design files, Bills of Materials (BOMs), fabrication drawings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, including IPC-6012, ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, system engineering, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to meet project specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in PCB design, particularly high-speed digital and RF designs.
- Strong proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Good understanding of Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), and EMI/EMC design principles.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as DDR3, DDR4, DDR5, PCIe, and SerDes.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as HyperLynx, Ansys, or SIwave for SI/PI analysis.
- Hands-on experience with impedance-controlled PCB designs and differential pair routing.
- Strong understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with rigid-flex and High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB designs.
- Familiarity with defence and aerospace reliability standards.
- Exposure to mechanical integration and 3D ECAD tools.
- Additional experience with simulation tools for signal and power integrity analysis.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organise tasks, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
- Leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate, and coordinate team members.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and active listening.
- Strong technical documentation and presentation skills.
Reporting Structure
- Reports To: Project Lead – Embedded Hardware for day-to-day activities.
- Coordinates with cross-functional team leads as required.
- Delegation During Absence: Responsibilities may be delegated to the PCB Design Engineer, with relevant authorities assigned to the Project Lead – Embedded Hardware.
