Research Project Manager (part-time 17.5 hours/week,  one-year position)

Come join the BYU Pediatric Sleep Lab as a Research Project Manager supporting an NIH-funded research study examining the relationship between sleep and dietary health in adolescents and young adults. The SPROUT Project investigates how sleep and circadian health may influence eating behaviors and other health-related outcomes, with the broader goal of identifying modifiable factors that can improve health and well-being during adolescence and young adulthood.

As the Research Project Manager, you will play a central role in the day-to-day execution of this study. You will help coordinate research activities, organize and support undergraduate research assistants, oversee study procedures and data collection, and help ensure that research appointments and study milestones run smoothly. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys organization, teamwork, mentoring students, and being closely involved in the implementation of a federally funded research project.

This is a part-time position anticipated to last one year.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day execution of study activities for an NIH-funded research project focused on sleep and dietary health
  • Manage study-related tasks, timelines, workflows, and documentation to help ensure research milestones are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Organize and coordinate undergraduate research assistant efforts, including assigning study tasks, communicating expectations, and helping monitor completion of responsibilities
  • Assist with training and supporting undergraduate research assistants in study-specific procedures and research protocols
  • Coordinate research appointments and help ensure appropriate staffing and preparation for participant visits
  • Staff research appointments as needed and assist with study procedures and participant-facing activities
  • Help oversee participant recruitment, scheduling, tracking, and retention efforts
  • Monitor completion of study procedures and follow up on missing or incomplete study tasks
  • Maintain organized research records, study materials, tracking systems, and project documentation
  • Assist with data collection, entry, organization, and quality-control procedures
  • Help ensure that research activities are conducted consistently with study protocols, IRB requirements, and standards for participant confidentiality
  • Communicate regularly with the principal investigator and research team regarding study progress, scheduling needs, challenges, and upcoming priorities
  • Identify logistical problems that may interfere with data collection and help develop practical solutions
  • Support other study-related administrative and research responsibilities as needed to facilitate successful completion of the project

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field
  • Previous administrative or office experience in any setting
  • Prior research experience
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, research participants, and other members of a collaborative research team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, reliability, and personal integrity
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential research and participant information

Preferred

  • One or more years of research experience
  • Research experience in psychology, behavioral health, sleep, nutrition, or other health-related topics
  • Experience coordinating research participants, research assistants, or data-collection activities
  • Experience in a university or higher education setting
  • Familiarity with BYU administrative systems and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, collaborative, and faith-centered workplace culture

Starting Wage: $20.00-$24.00/hour
