Immunodiagnostics in Uppsala

This position is based at our Uppsala site, where Thermo Fisher Scientific develops and manufactures diagnostic solutions that support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. Our immunodiagnostics business has approximately 1,900 colleagues globally and is a world leader in in vitro allergy diagnostics and a leading provider of autoimmune diagnostics in Europe.

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for a motivated Process Engineer to join our Process Engineering team within Production Support.

In this role, you will drive technical and process improvements that strengthen production quality, safety and capacity. Working closely with Production and cross-functional teams, you will solve technical challenges, improve manufacturing processes and contribute to projects that support the continued development of our Uppsala site.

What will you do?

You will provide technical support to Production and lead process improvements, investigations and smaller technical projects. You will also contribute to larger cross-functional projects, collaborating with colleagues across Production, Engineering, Research & Development, Supply Chain, Sourcing and Quality Assurance, as well as external partners and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive process changes and associated change control activities in accordance with the QMS, including approval of change requests within your area of responsibility.
• Lead process development and continuous improvement activities, including evaluating new technologies, production techniques and scale-up or scale-down opportunities.
• Plan and conduct experiments at laboratory and production scale, using statistical tools and methodologies to evaluate process performance.
• Lead root cause investigations and risk management activities related to production processes, including supporting CAPA investigations.
• Contribute to the purchase, installation and implementation of new production equipment.
• Support validation and qualification activities within the production environment.
• Collaborate across functions to deliver robust, efficient and compliant manufacturing processes.

We are looking for someone who has:

• An engineering degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, molecular biotechnology or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in process engineering, production engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with production processes operating under GMP and/or ISO 13485 requirements, from laboratory through automated industrial scale.
• Experience delivering technical projects and process improvements within an operating production environment.
• Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and tools.
• Strong written and spoken Swedish and English.

The following experience is considered an advantage:

• Statistical evaluation and analysis of production processes.
• Validation of production processes.
• Cleaning processes and production environment within medical device manufacturing.
• Automation systems, PLCs or manufacturing control systems.
• Production equipment and fluid systems, including practical experience with components such as piping and valves.
