Role Overview

We're hiring a Principal Product Manager to own risk and decisioning across the Coinflow platform — the systems that decide, in real time, which transactions we approve and on what terms.

This is a role where product decisions carry direct P&L consequences. We don't pass risk through to our merchants; approval-rate and loss-rate outcomes land on our own books. That changes the job. Every threshold, model, and policy you ship is a bet with a cost, and you'll own both sides of it.

The surface area spans:

  • Real-time decisioning — the models, rules, and signals that evaluate transactions across 170+ countries and a multi-billion-dollar volume run rate

  • Loss economics — understanding where losses come from, what they cost, and how pricing and policy should respond

  • Merchant-facing risk product — giving merchants visibility into decisions, and control where they should have it

  • Risk operations tooling — the internal surfaces where analysts, underwriters, and ops teams do their work

You'll work directly with engineering, data science, finance, compliance, and our commercial team. This is a high-ownership, high-ambiguity role: limited structure, problems you'll identify before they're handed to you, and execution you'll drive end to end.

What You'll Do

  • Own the approval-rate and loss-rate tradeoff — set the policy, defend the position, and be accountable for both numbers

  • Productize risk models — work with data science to turn models into decisioning products with clear thresholds, monitoring, and failure behavior

  • Build the loss economics view — partner with finance to understand exposure at the portfolio and merchant level, and translate that into pricing and policy recommendations

  • Ship merchant-facing risk product — decisioning transparency, controls, and reporting that reduce support load and increase trust

  • Evaluate and integrate risk infrastructure — assess signal providers, data sources, and decisioning vendors across coverage, accuracy, cost, and technical fit

  • Make calls with incomplete data — much of this space has thin baselines and long feedback loops; you'll need to decide anyway, and instrument so you learn fast

What You Need

  • 7+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a technically complex or regulated surface area

  • Experience with products where a wrong decision costs the company money — lending, BNPL, issuing, insurance, risk, or payments products where your employer carried the loss rather than passing it downstream

  • Fluency with loss economics — you can reason about expected loss, unit economics, and how a policy change moves both revenue and exposure

  • Experience productizing models — you've shipped against precision/recall tradeoffs and know what breaks when a model meets production traffic

  • Track record of shipping end-to-end, from ambiguous problem to production, without a roadmap handed to you

  • Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders — you'll be explaining risk posture to engineers, finance, and merchants in the same week

About You

  • Comfortable owning expensive decisions — you'd rather hold the number than advise on it

  • Rigorous with data, decisive without it — you instrument everything and let results change your mind, but you don't stall waiting for certainty that isn't coming

  • Operationally deep — you learn a workflow well enough to see what the people doing it can't

  • Attentive to edge cases and failure modes — in this domain the tail is where the money is

  • Raises the operating bar — you find the process held together by one person's memory and turn it into something that scales

  • Drawn to hard problems — payments risk is high-stakes and unglamorous, and that's the appeal

  • Founder or early-employee instincts — you've built from zero, with no team and no one to escalate to

Nice to Have

  • Fraud, underwriting, or credit risk product experience — you've owned a loss number, not just observed one

  • Cross-border payments experience — you've worked risk across markets with different rails, regulators, and fraud patterns

  • Product work under heavy regulatory constraint — NACHA, MiCA, BSA/AML, PSD2, or equivalent, where the regulation shaped the design

  • Actuarial, quantitative finance, or data science background — formal or informal

The base salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000 USD. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, skills, qualifications and business needs.

In addition, the employee who fills this role will be eligible for an equity grant, allowing you to share in the long-term success of the company. You will also have access to a wide array of benefits, including health and wellness benefits, 401(k) savings plan, and flexible time off.

Join the team rewriting how money moves worldwide—and become a driving force in the $194 trillion cross-border payments market.
