Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Aeronautical Engineer OR Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Fluids Subsystems Responsible Engineer) to join our Air Vehicle Subsystems and Architecture team in El Segundo, CA. 

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Become a Responsible Engineer (RE) for the   Environmental Control System (ECS) fluid subsystem

• Support supplier qualification efforts to ensure program requirements are met

• Support supplier contract milestones (PDR, CDR, TRR, MRA, FCA, PCA etc.)

• Review and disposition supplier contract data deliverables

• Occasional travel to support supplier activities, production test support, and/or control room flight test support up to 10% of the time

This position can be filled at either the Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Fluids Subsystems Responsible Engineer) level 3 or the Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Fluids Subsystems Responsible Engineer) level 4, depending on experience and qualifications. 

Basic Qualifications

• Basic qualifications for a Principal Aeronautical Engineer include a Bachelor’s degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 1 year of relevant experience.

• Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer include a Bachelor’s degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant experience.

• U.S Citizenship required

• Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs. This SAP must be obtained prior to employment. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools – PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Environmental Control Systems (ECS)

• Experience in Environmental Control Systems (ECS) hardware development and supplier technical management interaction

• Experience with engagement on technical and programmatic interaction with suppliers and supplier management

• Experience creating and presenting technical board packages to program leadership and customer for approval

• Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)

• Experience supporting production test support

• Experience with control room flight test support

• Experience with Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) software

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
