Are you ready to work on software that powers the future of airborne communication?

We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Avionics Communication & Data Link Systems to join our Airborne Information Solutions Department within the Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) division. As part of the End-to-End Communication Team, you will contribute to the development, verification, integration, and certification of advanced avionics communication applications that support reliable, safety-critical airborne connectivity.

This is an opportunity to apply your software engineering expertise to complex aerospace challenges, work with industry-leading avionics standards, and help deliver mission-critical technologies that keep aircraft and the global aviation ecosystem connected.

What You’ll Do

As part of our avionics software engineering team, you will:

  • Design and develop advanced avionics software: Contribute to the architecture, development, integration, and verification of airborne communication applications using C, C++, and Python.
  • Engineer next-generation data link solutions: Develop and verify applications supporting Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Contract (ADS-C), ATN Context Management (CM), and FANS ACARS Facilities Notification (AFN).
  • Apply industry-leading aviation standards: Implement and maintain compliance with relevant ARINC standards, including ARINC 429, 618, 620, 622, 661, 739, and 615.
  • Deliver certification-ready software: Apply DO-178B/C processes and contribute to the development of high-integrity, safety-critical software that meets stringent aviation certification objectives.
  • Drive software quality and verification: Perform requirements analysis, verification and validation (V&V), structural coverage analysis (SCA), debugging, troubleshooting, and unit, integration, white-box, and verification testing.
  • Enable seamless system integration: Support software-software and hardware-software integration, identify complex system-level issues, and drive effective technical resolutions.
  • Support certification and compliance activities: Prepare for and participate in Stages of Involvement (SOI), certification reviews, technical audits, and engagements with internal and external compliance authorities.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines: Work closely with systems, software, integration, verification, and certification teams to deliver robust, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
  • Strengthen engineering excellence: Contribute to requirements management, reliability analysis, risk mitigation, process optimization, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
  • Leverage advanced engineering tools: Use network analyzers, simulation environments, and software development and verification tools to validate performance and troubleshoot complex avionics systems.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (B.Tech/M.Tech), with a foundation in avionics systems and software architecture.
  • 12+ years of avionics software development and verification experience.
  • Strong programming proficiency in C or C++ and Python.
  • Solid understanding of avionics systems and architectures, including Data Link, Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS), Flight Management Systems (FMS), Flight Control Systems (FCS), and aircraft displays.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), covering requirements analysis, software design, coding, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Practical exposure to DO-178B/C processes and safety-critical software development.
  • Hands-on experience with V&V, structural coverage analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, and white-box, unit, integration, and verification testing.
  • Experience with software development and verification tools such as VectorCAST, PyATE, RapiTest, Git, and Subversion.
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems and network analyzer tools used for communication and performance testing.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing, integrating, and certifying large-scale avionics software systems.
