Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) offers a challenging career opportunity in our Operations Instruments Engineering team for a Principal Electromechanical Engineer at our Salt Lake City, UT facility. Working in NGMS means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe and expanding the boundaries of the world we live in.

What You'll Get to Do:

• Develops and implements manufacturing methods, processes, and assembly instructions for mechanical gyroscopes.
• Implement Lean manufacturing techniques that are applicable to statistical process control across manufacturing environments.
• Work closely with production floor supervisors, technicians, operators, and other engineering disciplines to support day-to-day activities.
• Train technicians and operators on manufacturing techniques and procedures.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCCA) and implement corrective actions on process failures.
• Analysis of manufacturing yields and trends to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Interpret engineering drawings and recommend design changes to ease product manufacturability.
• Provide recommendations and justifications for tooling and equipment.
• Work with suppliers to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.

The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, negotiate, and integrate different viewpoints and be able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM field with 5 years of relevant work experience, Master’s degree in STEM field with 3 years of relevant work experience, or a PhD in STEM field with a minimum of 1 year(s) of relevant work experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing facility.
• Knowledge and experience using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concept.
• Experience effectively presenting data, actions, and conclusions to management.
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, with GD&T knowledge.
• US Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data analysis software (Tableau, Matlab, Python, Excel, or others).
• Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent software.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry with strict customer/process requirements.
• Experience implementing tools/processes to improve operator/production efficiency.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience in assembly and fabrication.
• SAP experience.
• Experience with electromechanical devices.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
