Job Summary
The Structural Heart team at Montefiore Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of complex valvular heart disease. The center is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join a rapidly growing team. As part of this dynamic team the PA will be collaborating with physicians and other health care providers in the planning, evaluation, and coordination of care for our patients in the new inpatient consult, post procedure, and outpatient clinical settings.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for reviewing patient histories, conducting physical exams, and managing the medical care of patients with communicable diseases, providing opiate replacement therapy, and/or primary and preventative care.
*To ensure proper medical care is provided. - Reports to and supports the physician/medical director (MD) in such a way that the health hub runs in a creative, efficient and integrated fashion
*Provide support to medical staff - Takes appropriate patient notes and ensures that patient care is logged in NYHRE’s EHR.
*Utilizes specific information in the development of teaching and long term plans.
*Documents patient/involved others’ response to teaching/long term planning.
*Evaluates and documents patient/involved others' response to teaching/long term planning. - Collaborates and communicates with the RN, CNM, MD and Care Manager for an integrated medical treatment plan for each participant seeking medical services.
*To ensure open communication with physicians outside of the core faculty. - Writes appropriate medical orders for RN and CNM to follow.
*To ensure all medical orders and documentations are to standards. - Works with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) to ensure medical supply inventory needs are met.
*Appropriate levels of supplies are available.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree coupled with Registered as a Physician Assistant in New York State required
- NCCPA certified
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Experience in interventional cardiology/cardiology preferred, but not required
- No nights/weekends
