Work Shift: Monday – Friday, 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm during Eastern Standard Time, possible weekends.

The Pharmacy Technician II (BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy) is responsible for the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues. Provides administrative support to Pharmacists.

How you will make an impact:

• Completes administrative and clerical tasks to support pharmacists and pharmacy operations, including verifying member/patient information, updating patient profiles, and entering accurate data.
• Serves as mentor for less experienced staff.
• Serves as department representative on intra-departmental initiatives.
• Assists in formal training of associates and process improvement initiatives.
• Develops working partnerships with physicians, healthcare service providers, and internal and external customers.
• Consults with clinical reviewers.
• Conducts phone calls to patients and providers.
• Educates members on pharmacy rules related to prescriptions, formulary/prescription benefits, and available medication resources or assistance programs.
• Contacts healthcare providers as needed to obtain documentation, support prescription transfers, or facilitate pharmacist review/intervention.
• Assists with documentation and reporting of adverse events to applicable contractual manufacturers, following established procedures.
• Generates and maintains reports for patient records.
• Performs other pharmacy technician duties as delegated and supervised by a licensed pharmacist, within the technician’s permitted scope of practice.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires an active, professional license, if required by state law, State Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Certification based on applicable state(s) requirements, to practice as a Pharmacy Technician within the scope of practice in a state or territory of the United States is required.
• Requires H.S. diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Specialty Pharmacy Experience.
• PTCB Certification is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with accreditation processes.
• Pharmacy claim adjudication experience is highly preferred.
• Experience working in a high volume position with strong attention to detail is highly preferred.
• Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the pay* range for this specific position is $20.23/hr. to $31.80/hr.
