Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As a Small Business Partner, you'll be working with some of our more complex business and small business customers, providing provide practical banking advice and connect customers with the right BNZ products, services and specialists to help their businesses succeed.

You’ll manage and grow your portfolio by building strong relationships with existing customers and connecting with prospective customers in the local business community.

What does the day to day for a Small Business Partner look like? 

• Building trusted, long-term relationships with small business customers.
• Understanding each customer’s business, financial position and future goals.
• Providing tailored lending and banking solutions that support sustainable growth.
• Managing a portfolio of existing customers while developing new business opportunities.
• Connecting customers with BNZ specialists when they need additional expertise.
• Developing strong networks across the local business community.
• Managing lending responsibly and maintaining strong credit quality.

What attributes will make you successful? 

• Previous business banking experience would be highly advantageous, along with a sound understanding of lending and business financials.
• An understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in running a small business.
• You’re confident creating new opportunities, whether through existing networks, customer referrals or connections within the local business community.
• You can interpret financial information and apply sound judgement to deliver responsible, well-considered lending outcomes.
• Sound judgement and an understanding of responsible lending and credit risk.
• You enjoy collaborating with specialists and bringing the right people together to deliver a seamless customer experience.
• Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills would be valuable, supporting strong connections with our diverse customer base.
