YOUR ROLE
Every live event we produce is a chance for someone to encounter God for the first time. The person in the back row of a church who almost didn't come. The family that drove two hours because they saw a clip online. The teenager who's been watching Johnny's videos alone in their room and finally gets to be in a room full of people who believe the same thing. You are the person who makes that moment happen, flawlessly, every single time.
As our Live Events Producer, you own the entire live event lifecycle for Johnny Chang Live, from initial outreach and venue booking through on-the-ground production and post-event wrap-up. You will plan and execute everything from local church gatherings to multi-city tours to prison ministry visits. You work directly with leadership, coordinate vendors and volunteers, and build the systems that let us scale our in-person mission globally. You are not an assistant. You are the operator who runs this arm of the ministry.
We already have systems in place, and we want someone who makes them better. The person we're looking for has done this a hundred times and walks in with a point of view. You should be able to look at how we run events now, tell us what you would change, and explain why your way works better.
The relationships are what start from nothing. You'll be responsible for creating them from scratch, getting pastors on the phone, negotiating with vendors, and building trust with prison wardens and chaplains so we can get inside.
Where this goes: if it works out, you'll own everything Johnny and the team do on the road. Live events, prison ministry, conferences, and press tours, first across the US and eventually overseas. We're looking for someone who wants to grow this into a multi-faceted global program.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Own all event and tour logistics: routing, scheduling, venue booking, travel, and accommodations for the entire team.
Lead all pre-production for every event, including tech riders, vendor contracts, run-of-show documents, and volunteer coordination.
Run on-site production, managing vendors, partners, AV, and volunteers to deliver a flawless attendee experience from doors-open to load-out.
Build and maintain a global pipeline of partner churches, venues, prison chaplains, and event contacts to keep future bookings flowing without leadership having to source them.
Own all event-related communications (internal and external), keeping ClickUp updated with 100% clarity on every event's status, timeline, and open items.
Manage post-event wrap-up: vendor payments, debrief notes, attendee follow-up coordination, and documentation of what worked and what didn't.
Create and refine repeatable systems (checklists, templates, vendor databases) so every event runs at the same standard regardless of city or scale.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (FIRST 90 DAYS)
Objective 1: Book and begin production for our entire 2026 and 2027 live event calendar.
Our current pace is roughly one weekend of live events per month. You'll have clear systems to follow from Day 1.
Book and successfully complete at least 3 weekends of live events in your first 90 days.
Deliver a complete pre-production package (tech rider, run-of-show, travel plan, vendor contracts) for each event at least 30 days out.
Objective 2: Build a scalable outreach pipeline for future bookings.
Create a polished "Johnny Chang Live Event" partnership package and send it to at least 15 high-potential churches or venues.
Generate at least 5 qualified booking conversations from that outreach by Day 90.
Objective 3: Prove operational ownership inside our systems.
Every event you touch has a fully maintained ClickUp project with zero overdue tasks and clear status updates posted weekly.
Successfully produce and run at least 2 live events end-to-end with no critical logistical failures.
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF
You have never created an event from scratch. If you have never had to hunt out venues, negotiate vendors, run full budgets, and hire your own team, this position is not for you.
You have never produced events with 1,000+ attendees or managed multi-city tour logistics. We need someone who has done this, not someone who wants to learn.
You don't have artifacts you can share from past events. We'll ask you to walk us through a real project board, budget, or run-of-show from work you've done. Without that, we can't move forward.
You need to be told what to do next. This role requires you to own the entire operation and drive it forward without oversight.
You struggle to communicate proactively across a remote team. If leadership has to chase you for updates, this won't work.
You are not comfortable with the faith-based mission. Every event exists to help people encounter God. If that doesn't resonate with you personally, this is the wrong fit.
You crumble under pressure. Flights get canceled, venues fall through, and gear breaks. You need to solve problems on the spot without panicking.
NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS
3+ years producing live events as the person who owned them. If someone handed you the client, or you just managed an event someone handed to you, that is a different job than this one.
Live events of 1,000+ attendees that you personally carried from empty calendar to load-out. You booked the venue, built the budget, hired and directed the vendors (AV, catering, security, volunteers), wrote the run-of-show, and ran the day.
Deep knowledge of tour routing and travel logistics: flight booking, car rentals, Airbnb/lodging coordination, and budgeting for multi-city trips.
Strong budgeting skills. You must be able to build, manage, and stay within event budgets across multiple simultaneous productions.
Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills. You will represent our brand to pastors, venue managers, and partners.
Proficiency in ClickUp (or equivalent PM tool), Google Drive, AI tools, and event management/booking software.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as events require.
Must be a systems-builder who documents processes so events are repeatable at scale.
COMPENSATION
Starting pay is $3,000-$3,500/month (about one weekend of events per month).
The scope and pay can grow very quickly with this role. As you take on more, it expands into managing bigger live events, prison ministry, and Johnny's travel for everything else he does, like conferences, press tours, and more. Our goal is to find someone who grows into a full-time role running the whole road operation.
