Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. We’re Looking For:

• High School Diploma or GED required. 

• Completion of an accredited or approved program recognized by the US Dept. of Education in Medical Assisting, or be a certified Medical Assistant with 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. 

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care.

• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.

• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.

• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.

• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.

• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

About This Location:

The Aurora Physiatry/Physical Medicine & Rehab clinic, situated at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2901 W Kinnickinnic River Parkway, Suite 101), provides nationally recognized care. The clinic offers a highly integrated inpatient and outpatient continuum of care utilizing multidisciplinary teams of physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech pathologists. They specialize in treating complex, disabling illnesses and injuries—including stroke recovery, neuromuscular disorders, spinal cord trauma, and advanced orthopedic or spine conditions—by leveraging advanced medical technologies and unique replica home environments to maximize patient independence before transitioning back into the community. This role will also assist as needed at the West Allis and 84 South clinics.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance.  For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
• Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. 
• Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.  Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. 
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
