DESCRIPTION
As a Materials Planner II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to ensuring efficient flow of materials through our production cycle to enable scientific discoveries. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory levels, manage material requirements planning (MRP), and enhance supply chain effectiveness. This role combines analytical thinking with strategic planning to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting production demands and customer expectations. You'll apply your expertise to analyze supply chain data, manage vendor relationships, and implement process improvements that support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain material requirements plans using ERP/MRP systems.
• Monitor material availability, shortages, supplier deliveries, and planning exceptions.
• Manage planning parameters including lead times, safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes, and minimum order quantities.
• Work with suppliers and Procurement to resolve shortages, late deliveries, and supply constraints.
• Analyze and optimize inventory levels to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining production continuity.
• Coordinate material planning activities related to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), BOM changes, and product transitions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Service to resolve material issues.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively identify and mitigate supply risks.
• Develop and analyze planning KPIs, inventory reports, and supplier performance metrics.
• Support Lean, PPI, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree + 2 years relevant experience; or
• Associate’s degree + 7 years relevant experience; or
• High School Diploma + 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience in material planning, production planning, production control, supply chain, or related manufacturing operations.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory management, BOMs, ECOs, supplier management, and manufacturing operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to independently prioritize material requirements and proactively resolve supply issues.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent certification.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or PPI experience.
• Experience in GMP/FDA-regulated or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Intuitive, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or advanced Excel.
