The Materials Science & Technology team provides cutting-edge materials and processes solutions to support turbomachinery product competitiveness to deliver the highest reliable, efficiency and clean performances.

We are seeking a highly motivated Materials Engineer with a strong background in Materials Science and Technology and proven experience in failure analysis and materials testing for turbomachinery applications. 

In this role, you will act as a Laboratory Technologist, leading complex material investigations, testing activities, and failure analyses associated with components operating in development, installation, and field service environments.

You will work closely with Design Engineering and Root Cause Analysis teams to understand design requirements and service conditions, correlating operational data with laboratory findings to support product reliability and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical thinking, technical expertise, commitment to quality and HSE standards, and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment.

As a Materials Engineer , you will be responsible for:

•  Executing assigned laboratory activities and issuing technical documentation in accordance with applicable procedures and Quality Management System requirements. 
• Reviewing testing and failure analysis requests to ensure completeness and availability of supporting documentation. 

• Collecting, digitalizing, managing, and analyzing materials property data. 

• Collaborating with Root Cause Analysis teams to gather relevant operational and design information. 

• Performing complex laboratory examinations, investigations, and failure analyses. 

• Reviewing and validating laboratory technicians' activities, test results, and investigation outcomes. 

• Developing, updating, and applying laboratory procedures, test methods, and departmental processes. 

• Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements. 

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory methods, equipment, and data management. 

Fuel your Passion 

To be successful in this role you will: 

• Hold an MSc degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. 

• Have at least 2 years of experience in materials engineering, laboratory testing, or failure analysis. 

• Possess technical expertise in metallic materials, special processes, testing methodologies, fractography, and materials behavior. 

• Be proficient in the use of laboratory equipment such as optical microscopes, SEM/EDS systems, tensile testing machines, and hardness testing equipment. 

• Have knowledge of international quality standards and accreditation systems (e.g., ISO and Nadcap). 

• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 

• Exhibit effective interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships with internal and external customers. 

• Be available for occasional international travel to support inspections, investigations, and technical activities. 

• Be a proactive self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset. 

• Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance with company policies.

For Italy:The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 38,605 To 59,000 

The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay
