About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, results-driven Marketing Executive to accelerate the growth of our Research business in China. You will own marketing for a portfolio of Engineering and Social Science journals, working to increase article submissions, strengthen journal brand awareness and deepen engagement with authors and the wider research community. You will also support our book editors with China-related events, in close collaboration with the global marketing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a marketer with a passion for scholarly publishing to make a visible impact, working across local and global teams, with a broad mix of channels, from events and WeChat to digital and partner campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing planning: Work with the team leader to develop and implement a marketing plan for the Engineering and Social Science journal portfolio, with a clear strategy, objectives, target audiences, tactics and measurable KPIs aligned with China Research business goals.
- Audience insight and campaigns: Analyze the China researcher and author market to refine audience segmentation. Using the author journey as a guide, plan, execute and optimize campaigns across events, social media, digital and third-party platforms, delivering on time, within budget and against marketing-influenced targets.
- Budget management: Manage the marketing budget for your campaigns, monitor spending, track ROI and adjust allocations to get the most from every channel.
- Author events: Plan and deliver virtual and hybrid author events that drive author engagement, build relationships with key institutions, raise journal brand visibility and grow the researcher contact database.
- Social media: Manage a subject-focused WeChat account, including developing the content strategy, creating and scheduling high-quality posts, monitoring performance and trends, and engaging the community, to grow readership and drive traffic to priority journals.
- Digital marketing: Plan and run targeted digital campaigns for different author segments through email, search engines and third-party platforms, supporting submissions, web traffic and open access growth.
- Global and partner collaboration: Work with cross-functional colleagues in Editorial, Marketing, Data Analysis and other teams, locally and globally, to roll out China initiatives. Support society and China-based partners with tailored marketing plans and performance reporting that grow authorship and readership in China and worldwide.
- Analytics and reporting: Track and analyze campaign performance with the relevant tools and metrics, and share clear reports and insights that inform future campaigns.
- Industry awareness: Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and marketing innovations, and explore new channels and opportunities for incremental growth.
- Book event support: Where book editors need support for events in China, work with the global marketing team on local execution, including liaising with vendors, helping with event design and supporting promotion in the China market.
