About the Position

The Lynn advanced programs (AP) section is a brand-new organization with the mission of inventing the future of flight and advancing propulsion capability for the next generation of military applications. Lynn AP supports a wide range of engineering activity including design, analysis, and testing across new, derivative, and existing engines.

The advanced lead mechanical design engineer will focus on fan rotor hardware ownership, responsible for execution of mechanical design and development of the multiple fan stages as part of the fan module team. In this role, the advanced lead engineer will utilize engineering experience to solve problems and recommend technical solutions partnering with teammates and technical experts. This role is best suited for a collaborative problem solver with a desire to deepen their fan rotor airfoil mechanical design expertise and develop new solutions to challenging technical problems. Effectively working with teammates and peers in adjacent organizations will be necessary for successful project execution to impact short-term and long-term business goals.

The Lynn Advanced Programs (AP) section is a new organization with the mission of inventing the future of flight and advancing propulsion capability for the next generation of military applications. Lynn AP supports a broad range of engineering activity including design, analysis, and testing across new, derivative, and existing engines.

With 1.6 million square feet of manufacturing space and significant recent investment in facility improvements, the Lynn team continues building on its legacy as the birthplace of the first U.S. jet engine in 1942—delivering high-quality hardware and advancing the future of flight.

Role Overview

The Advanced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will focus on fan rotor hardware ownership, executing mechanical design and development of multiple fan stages as part of the fan module team. In this role, you will apply engineering experience to solve problems, recommend technical solutions, and work closely with teammates and subject matter experts.

This role is well-suited for a collaborative problem solver who wants to deepen expertise in fan rotor airfoil mechanical design and advance new solutions to challenging technical problems. Success requires strong cross-functional execution and effective collaboration with adjacent organizations to support both near-term deliverables and long-term program goals.

Key Responsibilities

Fan Rotor Design & Analysis Execution: Execute design and analysis of fan rotor hardware using engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements, with limited guidance from experienced teammates and technical experts. Technical Documentation: Properly document technical data generated as part of design and analysis activities. Specialized Technical Growth: Develop specialized knowledge in fan rotor mechanical design and integration into the fan module/engine; stay current on technical developments and internal processes. Manufacturing & Procurement Support: Partner with internal teams and external vendors to support hardware manufacture and procurement. Issue Identification & Resolution: Communicate significant issues and challenges in a timely manner; evaluate options, recommend solutions with rationale, and contribute to action plans when required. Technical Communication & Reviews: Prepare and present technical data, recommendations, and conclusions to internal and external audiences; serve as a peer reviewer for less experienced team members during internal reviews. Competitive Awareness: Deepen understanding of competitors and differentiators in designs and products. Project Leadership: Lead fan rotor projects within the fan module, balancing moderate risk and resource requirements; develop project plans to manage design execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant design engineering position
  • Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the duties, must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for clearance is U.S. citizenship
  • Work Authorization: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE Aerospace will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job opening.

Additional Information

The base pay range for this position is $128,800.00 - $171,350.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on September 17th, 2026.
