Critical Environment Lead Electrician


Position Summary

The Critical Environment Lead Electrician is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of electrical infrastructure supporting mission-critical facilities. This role provides technical leadership for electrical systems including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, ATS/STS equipment, power monitoring systems, and associated distribution networks. The Lead Electrician directs electrical maintenance activities, ensures compliance with safety standards, and supports continuous uptime objectives while mentoring and developing technical team members.


Key Responsibilities


Electrical Systems Operations

  • Lead the operation and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure supporting 24/7 operations.
  • Monitor and maintain medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical equipment and distribution networks.
  • Ensure reliability and availability of UPS systems, battery systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, ATSs, and power distribution equipment.
  • Review electrical system performance and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to electricians and facility technicians.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and oversee completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Mentor team members and ensure adherence to operational procedures and best practices.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and performance development of electrical personnel.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety standards.
  • Lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety programs.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with established MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs

Critical Environment Management

  • Support continuous operation of mission-critical infrastructure with a focus on zero unplanned downtime.
  • Lead electrical switching operations and support planned maintenance activities.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and engineering teams during maintenance and project activities.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support capital improvement projects and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with commissioning, startup, and turnover of new equipment.
  • Drive energy efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence initiatives.

Qualifications


Required

  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent trade certification.
  • 7+ years of experience maintaining commercial, industrial, or critical facility electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems up to medium voltage.
  • Experience with UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgear, ATS equipment, and power monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA regulations, and electrical safe work practices.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams in a critical operations environment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical manuals.

Preferred

  • Experience in Data Centers, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Facilities, Hospitals, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) or related certifications.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of commissioning and electrical testing procedures.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in facilities management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in industrial and mission-critical environments.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to facility emergencies.
  • Work may require nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.

Reporting To: Critical Environment Manager / Facilities Manager


Location: Mission-Critical Facility / Data Center


Schedule: Full-Time, 24/7 Operational Support Environment. 4 X 10 workweek


This role is ideal for a highly skilled electrician who thrives in mission-critical operations and is passionate about maintaining the reliability and resiliency of electrical systems that support essential business functions.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

126,100.00 – 137,280.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
