Boeing Global Enterprise Services (BGES) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interpreter-Translator at Boeing Japan KK (BJKK) in Tokyo.  Join us as a member of BGES team in Japan, one of Boeing’s top international markets. 

In this role, you will be responsible for using your expertise in Japanese and English languages to enable the success of BJKK and its business partners. Your statement of work (SOW) will include both spoken interpretation and document translation.

The Japanese English Interpreter is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and professional interpretation services to facilitate effective communication between Japanese-speaking and English-speaking employees, management, visitors, and external stakeholders. This position supports a range of business activities, including meetings, presentations, site visits, and other operational or corporate events requiring real-time language support.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate fluency in Japanese and English, strong comprehension and communication skills, sound judgment, and a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are representative of the responsibilities associated with this position and are not intended to be exhaustive:

• Provide consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation between Japanese and English in various business settings, ensure accuracy, neutrality, and appropriate tones and manners.
• Facilitate clear, and culturally accurate, and professional communication between Japanese-speaking and English-speaking participants.
• Prepare thoroughly by reviewing agendas, technical terms, and background materials.
• Support executives, managers, employees, visitors, and business partners during internal and external meetings, site visits, and other activities.
• Manage relationships with senior executives, and stakeholders related to interpretation and translation assignments.
• Assist with ad hoc interpretation requests as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive corporate, personnel, and business information.
• Collaborate closely with administrative, operational, and business teams to ensure effective communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Reports directly to the BGES Japan manager.
  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experiences):

• Native or near-native fluency in both Japanese and English.
• Proven professional experience in providing interpretation services within corporate or business environment. 
• Excellent verbal communication, active listening, and comprehension abilities.
• Ability to deliver accurate and efficient real-time interpretation.
• Demonstrated professionalism, and strategic thinking, problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and standard business communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience providing interpretation support in a multinational or international business settings.
• Experience interpreting for executive leadership, technical discussions, or cross-functional business teams.
• Formal training, certification, or credentials in interpretation.
• Relevant experience in the aerospace industry, if applicable.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Japanese, English, Linguistics, Interpretation, Communications, International Relations, or a related discipline preferred.

• Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.

Experience:

• 5-7 or more years of professional Japanese English interpretation and translation at a multinational company experience preferred.
• Experience supporting business meetings, presentations, negotiations, or formal corporate communications preferred.

Working Conditions:

• The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at Boeing Japan’s Tokyo office.

• Occasional travel may be required to support meetings, site visits, or business events.
• May be required to support meetings outside standard business hours due to time zone differences.
• Work may involve extended periods of concentration, active listening, and verbal communication.

Relocation:
