Sobre este puesto de Head of Operations en Bjak
About the Role
BJAK builds technology products used by millions of users across Southeast Asia. Doit is our regulated investment platform in Malaysia, applying to the Securities Commission for registration as a Recognized Market Operator running an e-Services Platform.
The Head of Operations owns how the platform runs, from investor onboarding through to settlement, records and complaints. You will be the daily operational counterpart to our licensed partners, the stockbroker and fund manager whose products the platform carries, and you will own the reconciliation that keeps doit's records and theirs in agreement. You will report to the Chief Executive of Doit.
What You'll Own
Investor onboarding, from the account opening flow on our platform through to the account opened with the licensed partner, including the customer due diligence doit performs at its end.
Accurate and up to date records of investors, their transactions and the holdings recorded against them.
Daily reconciliation between doit's records and each licensed partner's records, including investigating breaks (differences between the two sets of records), tracking how long each one stays open, and escalating those that do not clear.
Settlement operations with each partner, the safeguarding of investor assets and records on doit's side, and the contingency arrangements that protect them if doit cannot carry out its operations.
Complaints handling, as doit's designated person for investor complaints, keeping investors informed through the review and keeping complete records of every complaint and its outcome.
The operational risk framework in practice, and operational readiness whenever a new product or partner goes live.
Building the operations team as volume grows, together with the processes, tooling and automation that let it scale.
What We're Looking For
A degree or professional qualification from an institution recognised by the government of Malaysia.
10+ years in financial services operations, including at least 5 years in securities, unit trust, fund administration or payments operations at a licensed or regulated entity, and at least 3 years running an operations function or team.
Demonstrable ownership of a daily reconciliation between two sets of records.
Working knowledge of the Bursa Malaysia trade and settlement cycle and CDS account operations, or of unit trust transaction processing, cut-off times and unit pricing.
Understanding of client asset segregation, and of how nominee arrangements work in practice.
Working knowledge of the SC's AML/CFT Guidelines and AMLA 2001 as they apply to investor onboarding.
Based in Malaysia, and able to meet the SC's fit and proper criteria. The role is the daily operational interface with our partners, and the holder is expected to be capable of standing as Doit's alternative Responsible Person (the main Responsible Person is Doit’s Chief Executive), the Securities Commission's named contact for the platform.
Nice to have
Experience in launching a digital brokerage or wealth platform and running through the first few years of operations.
Familiarity with the SC's Guidelines on Recognized Markets and other applicable guidelines, and experience of handling supervisory reviews by the SC.
