What you’ll be doing


As a Summer Analyst, Global Markets Technology, you’ll support the development of technology used in a live Global Markets business. You’ll work closely with engineers, traders, quantitative professionals, and business partners to solve software, data, and automation challenges that support front-office activities.

  • Build and enhance technology solutions that support trading, analytics, automation, and business workflows across Global Markets.
  • Partner with traders, engineers, quantitative professionals, and business leaders to understand business needs and help deliver practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Contribute to the design and development of real-time systems, data pipelines, analytics, APIs, and visualization tools that support front-office decision-making.
  • Support workflow automation and platform improvements that increase efficiency, improve scalability, and reduce operational risk.
  • Gain exposure to electronic trading, market structure, quantitative decision-making, and capital markets technology platforms through hands-on project work and mentorship from experienced professionals.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $100,000. 
 
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

Important information 

 

  • You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or related program at the time of the internship, with a graduation date no earlier than December 2027. 

  • Students with a technical undergraduate (ex: Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) are preferred.

  • We encourage you to include links to projects, code samples, open-source contributions, technical writing, research or other work that demonstrates how you approach and solve problems. 

  • Location: Toronto. Please note all employees must work within their current jurisdiction and must reside within Canada. All CIBC Co-op positions require you to be based in Canada for the duration of the term. 

  • Duration of Work Term: 4 months (May 2027 – August 2027).

Who you are

  • You are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Commerce, Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or a related field, and your expected graduation date is no earlier than December 2027.
  • You have experience building or contributing to technical work, which may include software development, workflow automation, data analysis, research, hackathons, open-source contributions, personal projects, startups, or student clubs.
  • You bring programming and technical problem-solving skills. Your experience may include Python or another general-purpose programming language, Git, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, data engineering, machine learning, or distributed systems.
  • You have an interest in financial markets, technology, and quantitative problem-solving. Prior capital markets experience is considered an asset, but it is not required.
