General Accounting Manager, Record to Insight (FSSC)

Location: Manila, Philippines

Position Summary


The General Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the General Accounting function within Finance Shared Services, with oversight of General Accounting towers such as Expense Accruals, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, and Prepayments. The role leads people managers and their teams and is accountable for the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of accounting activities and financial close.


The role combines technical accounting expertise, people leadership, strategic planning, operational excellence, and transformation. The General Accounting Manager will drive strong financial controls, process standardization, and continuous improvement while leveraging AI, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, insights, and scalability.


Key Responsibilities:


General Accounting & Financial Close

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of General Accounting towers, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring key accounting activities and deliverables are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Oversee accounting activities such as journal entries, expense accruals, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, prepayments, and other General Accounting processes.
  • Monitor close performance, key deliverables, dependencies, and risks, and ensure issues are appropriately escalated and resolved.
  • Review significant and complex accounting matters and provide technical accounting guidance to people managers and their teams.
  • Oversee financial analysis and data interpretation to identify significant trends, unusual movements, accounting issues, and potential financial or control risks.
  • Ensure general ledger balances and accounting transactions are properly supported, reviewed, approved, and recorded in accordance with established accounting policies and standards.

Strategy, Planning & Performance Management

  • Contribute to the development of the General Accounting strategy, priorities, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader Finance and Finance Shared Services objectives.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, initiatives, milestones, and measurable outcomes across the General Accounting organization.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives, ensuring clear ownership, effective execution, and timely delivery.
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve team metrics, KPIs, service levels, and other performance measures to assess operational effectiveness, quality, productivity, and controls.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights and use these to drive decisions and improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), leadership updates, performance scorecards, team metrics, and management insights, highlighting achievements, challenges, risks, trends, and areas requiring leadership attention.
  • Provide clear and concise insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making and strategic priorities.
  • Monitor progress against strategic plans and key initiatives and proactively address risks, dependencies, and barriers to execution.
  • Partner with Finance Shared Services and cross-functional leaders to ensure General Accounting priorities remain aligned with evolving business needs.

Accounting Governance, Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, company accounting policies, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure appropriate controls are embedded and consistently executed across General Accounting processes.
  • Identify accounting, operational, and control risks and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Apply strong critical thinking and sound judgment in evaluating complex accounting matters, control issues, and proposed solutions.
  • Support internal and external audits, SOX testing, statutory audits, and other regulatory requirements by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of supporting documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure accounting policies, business process documentation, workflows, and control documentation are current and properly maintained.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop people managers and their respective teams, strengthening technical accounting, operational, strategic, and leadership capabilities.
  • Establish clear objectives, priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the General Accounting organization.
  • Develop people managers as effective leaders and build a strong succession and talent pipeline within the function.
  • Effectively manage organizational capacity and resources across multiple General Accounting towers to support financial close, strategic initiatives, and business priorities.
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, career development, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, innovation, and high-quality execution.
  • Promote a growth mindset and encourage teams to challenge existing ways of working and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Build team capabilities in AI, automation, analytics, and digital tools to improve productivity, analysis, and decision-making.

Process Excellence, AI & Transformation

  • Drive end-to-end process standardization and continuous improvement across General Accounting to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and control effectiveness.
  • Lead the review and optimization of accounting process flows, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate unnecessary manual activities, and strengthen controls.
  • Champion the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, analytics, and emerging technologies across General Accounting.
  • Identify and prioritize practical opportunities to leverage AI and automation to accelerate financial close, improve financial analysis, generate actionable insights, identify anomalies and risks, reduce manual activities, and enhance accounting quality.
  • Encourage responsible experimentation and innovation while ensuring AI-enabled solutions comply with applicable data privacy, security, governance, accounting, and internal control requirements.
  • Lead medium to complex transformation initiatives, including process migrations, system implementations, automation initiatives, and integration of new accounting activities into Finance Shared Services.
  • Partner with Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders to design and implement scalable process and technology solutions.
  • Measure and communicate the impact and value delivered through transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Build strong partnerships with RTI Towers, FSSC Teams, Corporate Accounting, Controllership, Strategic Finance/FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and other Finance and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key General Accounting point of contact and provide accounting guidance, financial insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Communicate accounting issues, financial impacts, operational risks, performance trends, and recommended solutions clearly and effectively to Finance leadership.
  • Manage competing priorities and resolve cross-functional issues through effective stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate across functions and geographies to ensure alignment of accounting processes, policies, strategic priorities, and business requirements.
  • Actively participate in and provide leadership support to global Finance and Finance Shared Services projects, transformation programs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within multinational or global organizations, with demonstrated experience leading people managers or team leaders.
  • Significant experience working in a Shared Services Center (SSC), Global Business Services (GBS), or BPO environment.
  • Strong experience in General Accounting / Record-to-Insight, including financial close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and related accounting processes.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in financial analysis, financial reporting and analysis, general ledger management, and interpretation of financial data.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accounting standards, SOX, internal controls, and accounting governance.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and operational planning, including translating organizational priorities into actionable plans, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong capability in performance management, KPI development, business reviews, data analysis, and generation of actionable management insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, professional judgment, and problem-solving skills to complex accounting, financial, operational, and control matters.
  • Strong experience in process flow management, process standardization, and continuous improvement, with the ability to assess end-to-end processes and identify opportunities for simplification and optimization.
  • Extensive experience with ERP and financial systems; experience with Workday Financials or a comparable enterprise ERP is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, automation, transformation, system implementation, or transition projects.
  • Strong understanding of AI, automation, analytics, and digital technologies, with the ability to identify practical applications within Finance and Accounting and drive responsible adoption.
  • Proven people management and team organization capabilities, including coaching, performance management, talent development, and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions, organizational levels, and geographies.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex information and data into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong growth mindset, adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results within tight financial close deadlines.
