The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Engineer will support federal agency modernization by building, deploying, automating, and maintaining secure and efficient cloud environments. Working under a lead architect, this role provides hands-on implementation and operational support for a variety of cloud projects. The engineer will leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform to create reusable modules and enforce secure configurations. Key responsibilities include hands-on work across compute, networking, security, and automation to ensure predictable, agency-aligned GCP operations that are compliant with federal frameworks.
Here's what you need:
- Minimum of six (6) years setting up, configuring and using GCP cloud operational tools to ensure service level agreements and performance targets are met, and continued compliance with policies, standards and guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or technical discipline
- Experience in GCP Core services, to include:

- Demonstrated expertise in engineering and managing core GCP services, including Compute Engine for virtual machines running Linux (Red Hat) and Windows operating systems.
- Proven ability to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and experience with serverless applications using Cloud Run, particularly for Python-based services.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking architecture, including VPC, DNS, Load Balancing, hybrid connectivity, and network security services like firewalls rules and policies.
- Advanced, hands-on knowledge of GCP Identity and Access Management (IAM), including the administration of custom roles and policies associated with Workload Identity Federation (WIF). Experience with Secret Manager, Pub/Sub, VPC Service Controls, and VM Binary Authorization is also required.
- Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation, to include:
- Strong proficiency in building, deploying, and maintaining secure cloud environments using IaC, with specific expertise in Terraform for creating reusable modules.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment using tools such as Cloud Build and GitHub Actions.
- Experience in Operations and Troubleshooting, to include:
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across complex cloud systems, including performance, network connectivity, GKE, and IAM permissions.
- Ability to implement and manage comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing for cloud services.
- Proven ability to create and maintain critical technical documentation, such as architecture diagrams, runbooks, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
