The role

The Deputy Head of AML is a senior member of Trading 212 Money Europe Limited's (the 'Company' or 'T212 MIE') financial crime function, supporting the Head of AML in establishing and maintaining a robust anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and wider financial crime framework. The role carries delegated responsibility for the day-to-day operation of that framework as a Central Bank of Ireland (CBI)-regulated Payment Institution.

The Deputy Head of AML deputises for the Head of AML (who is the Company’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer - ‘MLRO’) in their absence or as otherwise required.

The role carries the internal designation of Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer and has delegated authority to determine and submit suspicious transaction reports on the Company's behalf.

The role is a Controlled Function (CF2) under the Central Bank's Fitness & Probity regime, being a function related to ensuring, controlling or monitoring the Company's compliance with its relevant obligations.

What you’ll do

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company's AML/CFT and financial crime framework, policies, and procedures, and take delegated ownership of defined components of the framework.

• Oversee outsourced financial crime operations teams, including service-level management, quality assurance of their casework, and escalation when standards are not met.

• Own key decisions across the financial crime framework.

• Maintain the Company's money-laundering, terrorist-financing, and sanctions risk assessment.

• Oversee financial sanctions and restrictive measures controls.

• Maintain the Company's financial crime registers, records, and evidence base to a standard that withstands regulatory scrutiny.

• Conduct financial crime horizon scanning and advise the Company on AML/CFT and sanctions obligations.

• Design and deliver the Company's AML/CFT training and awareness programme, including role-specific training for first-line teams.

• Support the Company's response to regulatory inspections, thematic reviews, information requests and remediation programmes.

• Support the timely submission of required AML/CFT regulatory reporting to the CBI.

• Support the Company’s communications with the Central Bank of Ireland on financial crime, including regulatory engagements and regulatory reporting.

What you need to have

• Educated to a degree level in Law, Finance, or a related field is desirable.

• Professional certifications such as ACAMS, ICA, LCOI and/or equivalent.

• Experience of preparing for, or responding to, a CBI AML/CFT inspection or risk evaluation questionnaire.

• 5+ years of AML/CFT or financial crime experience within regulated Irish financial institutions; experience working at payment institutions and/or e-money institutions would be highly desirable.

• Educated to a degree level in Law, Finance, or a related field is desirable.

• Professional certifications such as ACAMS, ICA, LCOI and/or equivalent.

• Experience of preparing for, or responding to, a CBI AML/CFT inspection or Risk Evaluation Questionnaire.

• In-depth knowledge of the European and Irish AML/CFT and sanctions requirements, including applicable guidance, incumbent upon an Irish payment institution.

• Deep knowledge and demonstrable experience in developing and implementing AML/CFT frameworks, policies and procedures.

• Demonstrable hands-on experience of transaction monitoring and screening systems, including rule and threshold calibration, alert quality assurance, and the review and challenge of system output.

• Demonstrable ability to use artificial intelligence and other technology to enhance work

• A "right first time" attitude and excellent attention to detail.

• Capable of working independently or as part of a team, and comfortable operating with autonomy when deputising.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to present to senior stakeholders and regulators.
