Bargaining Unit:

General Description

The Office of Careers and Industry Partnerships (OCIP) is dedicated to the mission of connecting academic pursuits with career preparation. OCIP works closely with industry and the public/nonprofit sectors to understand the skills required for the most in-demand jobs and trains City University of New York (CUNY) students in those skills to prepare them for early and sustained career success. A spectrum of programs, including its Corps programs, are designed to give students an advantage in the job market and build their skills through work-based learning.

In early 2016, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs released a report entitled "Diversity in the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Community," which concluded that the diversity of staff and leadership at City-funded non- profit cultural organizations does not reflect the demographic diversity of the City’s population. CUNY Cultural Corps is one effort to diversify the cultural arts sector. CUNY Cultural Corps offers students paid, part-time professional learning experiences during the academic year in arts and cultural organizations throughout New York City.

CUNY Cultural Corps is looking for a part-time program coordinator to support student experiences and engagement primarily through professional workshop facilitation, management of graduate fellowship programming, and advancing mentorship outcomes. Secondary tasks include general program administration and recruitment support. The key responsibilities include:

Workshop Facilitation & Curriculum Development

  • Create and facilitate professional development workshops for student participants that reinforce skill-building, align with employer expectations, and directly connected to student career pathways in the arts and cultural sector

  • Monitor workshop and mentorship attendance, collecting feedback to continuously refine workshop content and delivery

  • Create presentations and maintain program materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accessibility (ADA-compliant design)

  • Collaborate with OCIP programs to support accessible, high-quality training materials across initiatives

Rockefeller Fellowship Programming & Coordination:

  • Manage the Rockefeller Fellowship lifecycle, including outreach, recruitment, and onboarding of five CUNY graduate students for competitive placements at NYC cultural institutions during the academic year

  • Design and facilitate workshops and structured check-ins, ensuring Rockefeller Fellows receive professional development training and are prepared to mentor the broader undergraduate cohort

  • Build and maintain relationships with employer partners, students, and relevant faculty through recruitment, ongoing communication and check-ins, and strategic engagement

  • Track fellowship progress using program management software such as Airtable. This includes assigning tasks, timesheet verification, distributing program evaluations, and ensuring completion of program milestones

  • Develop continuous fellowship improvements and strengthen mentorship outcomes

Program & Administrative Support:

  • Support program communication efforts, including responding to program inquiries, recruitment outreach, sending newsletters, and website maintenance

  • Participate in on-campus and off-site programming, including information sessions, career fairs, and museum-based events as needed

  • Assist with student application review, employer job posting review, and general cohort database management as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating professional development workshops

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and guide diverse stakeholders, including CUNY students, arts and cultural organizations, and campus faculty

  • Experience using design and presentation tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, and PowerPoint to deliver effective training materials

  • Proficiency in program management tools, including Microsoft Office 365 (especially Excel), Zoom, Airtable, and other software, with the ability to quickly learn new platforms as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience or strong interest in the arts and cultural sector

  • Experience in mentoring or career coaching

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and take initiative

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • This is a 70/30 hybrid position, subject to change. Remote work arrangements are not a right or entitlement of employment, and, as such, are discretionary and subject to operational needs unless otherwise provided by the CUNY Flexible Work Guidelines. A laptop may be provided if needed to support working remotely. Ability to travel to multiple sites throughout NYC. While performing these duties, the employee is required to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting items (up to 20 pounds), bending, reaching, and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for employees with disabilities or other needs per RFCUNY policy.

  • Availability to work 3 days per week (Wednesday–Friday) and travel within the NYC metropolitan area as needed
