PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The hiring salary range for this position is $73,701 - $92,127/ annually.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organizes, supervises, and coordinates the daily job duties of assigned staff responsible for all aspects of processing municipal court cases
- Develops staff work plans, measures and tracks progress toward goals, prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations including planning, recommending, and implementing changes in the Court Services processes
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, and orienting. Facilitates and implements performance evaluations including goals and tracking overall progress of employees. Coaches, counsels, and disciplines assigned employees
- Facilitates and implements employee training and development
- Creates, modifies, and maintains Court Services policies and procedures
- Provides court and case information to defendants, attorneys, police officers, and the public pursuant to the open records act and confidentiality requirements
- Provides input on policy development and updates processes to new rules and legislation
- Provides internal and external customer service and responds to requests and concerns. Serves as a point of contact and coordinates changes in court services operations
- Prepares court documents and reports. Monitors, reviews, and provides efficient and effective case processing
- Performs administrative functions including case management data entry, reviewing case entries, providing advanced research on complex cases, processing warrants, and daily balancing of system receipting
- Performs complex or non-routine clerical and administrative support functions
- Responds to a variety of inquiries and complaints requiring the interpretation of policy and procedures
- Corresponds with other jurisdictions to exchange/correct case status and documents
- Identifies and completes projects that strengthen Court Services ability to effectively serve the community
- Handles CJIS related information
- Performs additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field
Experience:
- At least three (3) years of court leadership and direct supervisory staff experience (municipal court preferred)
- At least three (3) years progressively responsible administrative municipal court experience
Licenses and Certifications:
- Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification required within six (6) months of hire
- NCIC / CCIC Certification may be required
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational theory, supervision, and administration
- Knowledge of court procedures and protocol, as wee as records management requirements associated with Court Administration
- Knowledge of municipal and state regulations, city ordinances, state statues, and municipal laws pertaining to municipal court documents and procedures, records management, and personnel administration
- Knowledge of analysis and research techniques

Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Light physical work that involves moving no more than 20 pounds at a time
- Frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing
- May require frequent pushing, pulling, bending and stooping
- Clear vision to read and interpret reports and other written documents
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
- Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard, carts and moveable shelving
Work Environment:
- Essential duties performed primarily in a professional office, public area setting
Equipment Used:
- Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel and menu driven databases
- This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, etc.) in the course of their employment.
The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
