Do more than take the next step. Take the next leap. Explore careers at PwC New Zealand.

At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems.

This is a place to keep growing. You’ll learn from the best, take on meaningful challenges, and make a lasting impact for our clients, our communities, and Aotearoa.

Ngā kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role

As Manager – Risk & Quality, you’ll lead the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of PwC New Zealand’s enterprise risk management, ethics and business conduct, business continuity and operational resilience, and modern slavery programmes.

This is a broad risk and governance role where you’ll translate network, regulatory andR internal requirements into practical frameworks, processes and actions that support sound decision-making and strengthen organisational resilience.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll own agreed deliverables, provide practical advice and prepare clear, decision-focused reporting for senior leadership and governance forums. You’ll build trusted relationships across the firm, bringing sound judgement and constructive challenge while coordinating activity across business leaders, connected teams, offshore resources and subject matter specialists.

Your day-to-day could include:

  • Manage and enhance the enterprise risk management framework, supporting alignment with the firm’s strategy, risk appetite, network requirements and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Coordinate risk identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting across the business, maintaining a current view of principal and emerging risks.
  • Support and constructively challenge risk owners to assess exposures, evaluate controls and develop proportionate treatment plans, while maintaining a current view of principal and emerging risks.
  • Lead delivery of the ethics and business conduct programme, maintaining and improving frameworks, policies, guidance and supporting processes, and providing trusted advice on ethical and conduct matters.
  • Support the assessment and appropriate escalation of sensitive matters, maintaining confidentiality and clear records of decisions and follow-up actions.
  • Lead ethics communications, awareness initiatives and learning activities, using themes, conduct indicators and emerging risks to inform programme improvements.
  • Lead the firm’s business continuity and operational resilience programme, including maintaining frameworks, plans, testing, resilience assessments and incident preparedness, response and recovery planning.
  • Coordinate modern slavery risk assessments, due diligence and monitoring, strengthen relevant governance and controls, and support associated disclosures and external reporting requirements.
  • Prepare clear, concise reporting, metrics, trend analysis and insights for senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of risk and compliance activities through process redesign, technology, data and AI-enabled solutions.

Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role

  • At least five years’ experience in risk, compliance, ethics, legal, governance, investigations or regulatory roles within a complex organisation.
  • Experience operating within professional services, financial services or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, ethics and compliance programmes, governance frameworks or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and programmes simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with excellent judgement and the ability to navigate complex or sensitive situations.
  • Experience preparing clear reports and insights for senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide constructive challenge.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement with limited supervision and coordinate delivery across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with modern slavery or third-party risk, business continuity or operational resilience, programme management would be advantageous. Relevant professional qualifications in risk, compliance, governance, law, audit or a related discipline would also be beneficial.
