The Opportunity

Located in Mumbai, India, you will serve as the Business Capability Lead - Downstream Procurement, where you will play a critical role in designing, managing, and governing downstream procurement. Operating at the intersection of strategic design and tactical execution, you will champion continuous improvement and drive the strategy for downstream procurement.
In this pivotal role, you will bridge site-level manufacturing needs with global standards, ensuring flawless Master Data governance (PIRs, Vendor Master) as well as support operational readiness as our primary system landscape transitions from legacy SAP to SAP S/4HANA under the ASPIRE transformation program.
- Organizational Reporting: This position directly reports to the Procurement Operations Lead and is part of the broader Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Wider team and stakeholders: Works closely with the DOP Leadership Team, DOP Delivery, DOP Category teams, CoE LT, Procurement Specialists, RSS Demand-to-Pay, peer BCLs, Global Procurement, and third-party partners.
- Role Type: A senior strategic and tactical individual contributor role focused on championing downstream procurement operations and being the change agent to transitioning to a unified, best-practice global operating structure.
- Impact: You ensure efficient downstream procurement operations for our manufacturing network while elevating data accuracy, compliance, and process efficiency across our plant network. Specifically, you are accountable for:
- Core P2P Operational Champion: Support P2P execution for direct materials (COGS), resolving operational bottlenecks like order delays, blocked invoices, and GR/IR reconciliations across Roche Diagnostic Plants
- Process Harmonization: Transition legacy, site-siloed processes and localized setups into a unified, best-practice global operating structure.
- SAP S/4HANA Transformation (ASPIRE): Serve as the operational subject matter expert (SME) during the migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, by providing input into local change impacts as well as supporting site readiness.
- Master Data Management & Accuracy: Lead operational governance for key direct material procurement master data—specifically Purchasing Info Records (PIRs), Source Lists, and Vendor Master Data—ensuring continuous alignment across Finance, Quality, and Sourcing.
- Continuous Improvement & Metrics: Track key operational KPIs (e.g., PO compliance, invoice automation rate, cycle times) and deliver performance updates to CoE and Procurement leadership.
- Cross-Functional & Ecosystem Collaboration: Act as the strategic liaison between internal procurement specialists and external operational partners. Partner closely with key internal stakeholders—including Manufacturing, R&D, and Planning/Buying teams—to ensure operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all P2P transactional workflows strictly adhere to medical device regulatory and quality frameworks
Who you are
We are looking for a process-driven champion with a solution-oriented mindset who thrives in a highly regulated, matrixed manufacturing environment.
- Education: University degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Life Sciences is required; an advanced degree (Master’s/MBA) or professional supply chain certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is preferred.
- P2P & Direct Materials Expertise: Proven track record in P2P operations, direct material (COGS) procurement, or material supply execution within global manufacturing environments.
- Regulated Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, quality standards, and audit readiness in medical devices, human diagnostics, or pharmaceuticals.
- AI & Digitalization: Advanced knowledge in AI application and a strong affinity to explore AI-driven solutions broadly, particularly regarding the digital transformation of operations (Digital 2.0 / Industry 4.0).
- SAP Architecture: Strong hands-on proficiency in SAP MM/FI modules (PIRs, PO management, Vendor Master, GR/IR processing). Experience with SAP S/4HANA migrations or global template deployments is highly valued.
- Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management: Proven track record of managing complex relationships across both internal teams (Procurement Specialists, Manufacturing, R&D, and Planning) and external operational partners. Skilled at balancing cross-functional priorities, resolving matrix conflicts, and driving operational alignment across the end-to-end supply chain.
- Mindset & Soft Skills: Self-organized, customer-focused, and collaborative with a strong "Can-Do" attitude, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to psychological safety and an open speak-up culture.
- Languages: Business-level fluency in English is required; additional languages spoken at major manufacturing hubs are a plus.
