We are seeking a motivated and experienced Billing Pod Lead to join our Revenue Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small billing team, establish best-practice processes and play a key role in managing the patient revenue cycle and maximising revenue across our hospital network. You'll work closely with health funds and stakeholders across the business to drive timely billing, rapid debt recovery and continuous improvement.

Your part in our Revenue Hub team

The Billing Pod Lead is responsible for ensuring the patient revenue cycle is effectively managed and conducted in a timely manner, and that revenue is maximised within their assigned pod. Leading others to achieve on key deliverables is a central feature of this role.

Reporting to the Patient Accounts and Billing Hub Manager, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, escalating issues only where a relevant policy, procedure or precedent does not apply. Leading a small team dedicated to a health fund group, you will provide supervision, expert guidance and strategic direction to ensure activities are prioritised, planned and driven to achieve set KPIs.

Key duties

Key duties will include:

• Lead a small team of billing staff dedicated to a health fund group.
• Lead and provide an exceptional billing and collections service, establishing 'best practice' work processes.
• Provide supervision and strategic direction to the billing team to ensure all activities are prioritised, planned and driven to achieve set KPIs.
• Monitor team progress and performance daily by analysing reports, and formulate strategies for the billing team.
• Act as the escalation point for the billing team on all billing queries and issues, providing guidance on their resolution.
• Establish rapport with health funds to ensure rapid recovery of outstanding debt.
• Maintain current knowledge of health industry and fund contract changes, and deliver subsequent education to the billing team.
• Proactively review health fund contracts and ensure staff are made aware of any changes at the implementation of new contract terms.
• Drive collaborative and productive relationships with key stakeholders, including Clinical Coding and Health Information Systems, Hospital Registration teams, Patient Administration Team Leaders and VMPs.
• Identify and address staff training needs, and provide guidance and counselling on performance-related issues.
• Ensure the correct and accurate completion of duties in a timely manner.
• Ensure staff have a safe work environment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety.
• Provide performance feedback and participate in performance reviews with the Patient Accounts and Billing Hub Manager.
• Undertake continuous improvement activities and the duties of a Billing Officer as required.

Essential:

• Knowledge of health fund arrangements.
• Demonstrated team leadership experience.
• Ability to read and interpret commercial contracts.
• A comprehensive understanding of medical terminology.

Desirable:

• Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent, and/or applicable experience in a role demonstrating the relevant skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Demonstrated customer service skills at a high level.
• Knowledge of billing processes and software.
• Demonstrated experience using medical terminology at an intermediate level.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to have complex financial conversations with patients in a sensitive manner.
• A willingness to learn, develop and grow.
• Ability to coach and provide guidance to team members.
