  • Ensure consistent alignment and follow-up regarding the editorial vision with journalists and assignment desks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for questions regarding story choices, angles, resources, field deployments, staffing, etc.
  • Support, guide, mobilize, and motivate editorial teams to propose and develop meaningful stories for the public.
  • Maximize the reach and visibility of multiplatform content.
  • Participate in journalists' professional development plans.
  • Participate in daily assignment meetings.
  • Ensure consistent follow-up on news production across digital platforms, radio, and television.
  • Act on behalf of the Senior Manager of News and Programming in their absence.
  • Participate in staff performance management and propose improvement measures when needed.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new employees in collaboration with the Senior Manager of News and Programming.
  • Supervise new employees and interns, support daily team operations, and ensure technical needs are met.
  • Develop, manage, and approve schedules, and identify field challenges and risks alongside the Senior Manager of News and Programming.
  • Sit on local, regional, and national committees upon request, and handle other duties assigned by management.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of News and Programming in liaising with the legal department.

The selected candidate must be available to respond to emergencies in the evening and every other weekend.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in journalism.
  • In-depth knowledge of journalism and broadcast programming.
  • Excellent knowledge of journalistic standards and practices, their application, and news treatment.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Estrie region and a strong local network.
  • Creativity, initiative, and agility in developing practical solutions, assessing workflows, and implementing new processes.

  • Proven ability to support employee growth and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Positive attitude and solution-oriented approach.
  • Management experience is an asset.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
