As an Associate Counsel, you will be part of the global legal team based in Sofia, Bulgaria, with a particular focus on supporting EMEA and US commercial contracts. The role will have a heavy emphasis on data and software licensing and represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and self-motivated lawyer who wishes to learn new skills and work as part of a global legal team.  The position will allow a junior attorney to begin taking on responsibilities early in one’s career. The successful candidate will have support from the Sofia Legal Team as well as the global Legal Department. The successful candidate will also have a desire to learn about new areas and expand on existing training.

What You'll Do:

• Draft and negotiate client license agreements and corporate vendor agreements involving data, software as a product, software as a service, platform as a service, and infrastructure as a service, as well as non-disclosure agreements, with a particular focus on contracts governed by EMEA and US law and involving EMEA- and US-based counterparties
• Negotiate with international counterparties by corresponding or by teleconferencing
• Drive the contract lifecycle from drafting through completion of the negotiation process and/or contract execution
• Interpret contracts and advise product development, sales, and finance teams in respect of the rights and obligations of parties in agreements
• Liaise with Finance, Marketing, Information Security, Compliance, and Human Resources to ensure an enterprise-wide approach to risk management and compliance with common standards
• Communicate and work collaboratively across multiple teams while providing general support to the Legal team globally
• Display exemplary attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to prioritize while meeting deadlines
• Provide high-quality support to the global sales team by assisting in customizing contracts and providing guidance on the contracting process
• Prepare various contracts, confidentiality agreements, and other in-house legal documents using prescribed templates
• Draft letters, emails, reports, documents, and forms; amend documents; and produce presentations and spreadsheets
• Learn and understand company policies to ensure these are met when assisting with contract agreements
• Manage and prioritize your own workload to ensure work is turned around within agreed deadlines and timeframes

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience as a licensed, practicing lawyer, with general commercial and corporate experience including reviewing and drafting commercial contracts
• Education: Law degree from a reputable and accredited institution
• Experience in any of the areas of mergers and acquisitions, financing, software licensing, intellectual property, and/or technology is a plus, but not essential
• Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, aptitude to develop sound judgment, capacity to multitask, and ability to quickly develop expertise in new fields of law
• Timely responsiveness and accountability to other members of the legal team as well as internal and external clients
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
• Candidates must be eligible to work in Bulgaria (EU/EEA/Swiss nationals, or holders of a valid Bulgarian work and residence permit)
