Fundamental Equities   

Fundamental Equities (FE) sits within BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG). The business provides a global investment platform offering BlackRock clients a comprehensive range of actively managed, high conviction equity strategies.  

FE’s global hybrid research model emphasizes the strength of an independent team approach with the benefits of platform-wide collaboration and connectivity. Fundamental Equity Core Portfolio Manager, APAC  

This is an Associate Core Portfolio Manager role within BlackRock’s Fundamental Equity business. Based in Taipei, the role will primarily provide regional Core PM support across FE APAC, including Taiwan, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. The role combines daily, market-sensitive portfolio implementation and control responsibilities with broader regional projects. A secondary, but material, focus will be the development of technology-enabled solutions for the Core PM platform, requiring strong technical capability, proficiency in Python and the practical application of AI tools to improve investment workflows.  

Key Responsibilities  

• Develop a deep understanding of FE APAC investment processes, strategies, vehicles and markets, with a primary focus on supporting teams in Taiwan, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong.  

• Support the implementation of equity, derivative and FX orders across a range of active strategies, partnering with portfolio managers and global trading desks to target accurate and efficient execution.  

• Proactively monitor portfolios, cash, exposures and implementation outcomes to support investment intent and maintain effective governance and controls.  

• Provide flexible regional coverage for daily Core PM activities, market events, new mandates and cross-platform initiatives, working independently and collaboratively across APAC time zones.  

• Design, develop and maintain robust technology solutions for Core PM workflows using Python, Aladdin applications/APIs, data tools and appropriate software development practices.  

Skills/Competencies   

• Apply AI tools and agents in a controlled and practical manner to streamline workflows, improve insight generation, enhance scalability and reduce manual operational risk.  

• Collaborate with regional and global Core PM colleagues, Technology and Citizen Developer communities to prototype, test, document and scale reusable solutions.  

• Interact regularly with key stakeholders including portfolio managers, product strategists, global trading, client businesses, risk and operational support teams.  

• Communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and as part of a global team across multiple markets and time zones.  
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize concurrent market-sensitive responsibilities and longer-term development work.  
• A solutions-oriented mindset with a high level of ownership, curiosity, initiative and attention to detail.  

Knowledge/Experience  

• Relevant experience in a finance, investment or technology role. A degree in business, finance, computing, engineering, data science or financial engineering would be a strong advantage.  

• Strong interest in equity markets and the investment process. Experience of portfolio implementation, trading workflows, investment operations or controls would be advantageous.  

• Proficiency in Python, including data analysis, workflow automation and API integration, together with sound coding, testing and documentation practices.  

• Hands-on experience with version control and collaborative development tools such as ADO or GitHub.  

• Knowledge of data structures, databases and SQL, with the ability to build reliable data pipelines and work with large or complex datasets.  

• Experience applying AI tools or agents to solve practical business problems, with an understanding of appropriate governance, validation and risk controls.  

• Familiarity with Aladdin applications/APIs and data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI would be advantageous.
