The Role

We are looking for an Accounting Operations Lead, International to join our fast-paced, high performing accounting team in Cork, Ireland. As we continue to grow and expand globally, we understand that hiring the right people and treating them well is key to our success!

We are a multi-national company with locations in 20+ countries, with each location contributing to Proofpoint’s amazing culture. This individual will be an integral part of the international accounting team focusing on the accounting of international countries and is the accounting site lead in Cork. This is a great opportunity that will allow for career growth as the Company continues to expand.

The ideal candidate is experienced in the accounting operations, proactive, forward thinking, a problem solver, collaborative and has strong communication skills.

Your day-to-day

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for certain entities

• General Ledger responsibilities including, but not limited to review and as required, preparation of monthly management reporting packages

• Review of monthly balance sheet and income statement flux variance analyses and account reconciliations for management reporting

• Prepare and review journal entries based on supporting reconciliations and schedules

• Support in annual group financial and statutory audits

• Lead and assist with implementation and adherence of SOX and other internal control compliance

• Assist with mergers/acquisitions of international entities, including integration activities, as required needed

• Lead and assist in automation initiatives, process improvement projects, including coordination with cross-functional teams

• Lead and assist with the implementation of new accounting policies

• Liaising with key stakeholders and business partners

What You Bring to the Team

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 4+ yrs proven post qualification experience (PQE) working in a similar role

• Experience in general accounting in industry and/or a public accounting firm as well as in international subsidiaries

• Demonstrate experience of managing end-to-end ownership of accounting close and related processes, workflows or an area of responsibility, ensuring a timely and high-quality delivery

• Working knowledge of financial reporting standards

• Strong business acumen, financial skills and analytical abilities including proficiency in systems (e.g., D365, Omnea, Workday) and Microsoft Office

• Ability to organize and communication effectively across various mediums with varying audiences across time zones

• Detailed oriented, strong analytical, organizational and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to prioritize business needs, adapt to rapid business changes, meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively across the organization

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, and evolving organization

Desirable Experience

• Experience in international payroll a plus
