ACCOUNT DIRECTOR
LOCATION: Barcelona, Spain
REPORTING TO: Business Director
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM
Working in direct partnership with a leading European pet care client (part of a major international food group), the Account Director leads the dedicated agency team in delivering powerful, impactful, and globally scalable creative work.
In this role, you will champion four of the client's flagship pet care brands. You will initially partner with the client's Global Brand Teams, leading the strategic and creative delivery of high-profile global briefs. These span brand strategy, conceptual campaign development, and global master toolkits, with a long-term view toward supporting local market adaptation.
The Account Director serves as a trusted senior advisor, combining client relationship management, commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and team leadership to foster a world-class agency-client partnership.
WHAT IS REQUIRED
Client Partnership & Brand Guardianship
- Act as the senior strategic point of contact for the client's Global Marketing and Brand leads, establishing trusted, collaborative, and consultative relationships.
- Act as Brand Guardian across the portfolio, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of strategic alignment, brand consistency, and creative excellence.
- Establish and champion best-practice ways of working, operational rhythms, and communication flows between the dedicated agency team and client stakeholders.
Creative & Strategic Delivery
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of global deliverables, including brand strategy, creative concepts, hero campaign assets, and master toolkits.
- Partner closely with the Strategy Director and Creative Director to translate business objectives into inspiring creative briefs and effective campaign solutions.
- Act as a senior escalation point for project hurdles, managing expectations and negotiating win-win solutions that protect both creative integrity and client satisfaction.
Commercial & Operational Leadership
- Take overall financial and commercial control of the account, managing profitability, accurate revenue forecasting, scope tracking, and fee negotiations.
- Manage the annual Scope of Work (SOW), tracking run rates, resourcing, and team capacity to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Identify organic new business and growth opportunities, introducing wider capabilities across digital, content, and production where appropriate.
Team Management & Development
- Manage, mentor, and inspire the account and project management team, encouraging professional development and high team engagement.
- Lead weekly WIPs, capacity planning, and status reviews with job owners to ensure seamless day-to-day studio execution.
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
- Proven experience: 8+ years of progressive account management experience within top-tier creative, advertising, or dedicated/in-house agency environments.
- Sector expertise: A background in FMCG, CPG, or Pet Care/Pet Food is strongly preferred. Experience managing a portfolio of multiple brands is a distinct advantage.
- Global creative scope: A demonstrable track record managing global campaigns, conceptual work, and master toolkits (beyond adaptation and localisation).
- Commercial acumen: Strong financial management skills, including scope definition, burn rate tracking, P&L awareness, and staffing models.
- Relationship & communication skills: Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, and comfort advising and influencing senior marketing stakeholders.
- Process & integration: A deep understanding of how to embed agency teams within client organisations while maintaining high agency service standards.
- Languages: Professional working fluency in Spanish and English is essential, as you will work with global teams.
