The Salvation Army is seeking an inspiring State Manager, Homelessness to lead our homelessness services across Tasmania and help shape a future where people experiencing homelessness are supported to find safety, stability and hope.

About the role
With strategic vision and compassionate leadership, you will strengthen services, build partnerships, drive innovation and advocate for better outcomes. You’ll turn strategy into action, ensuring services are sustainable, high quality and grounded in The Salvation Army’s national Model of Care.
As State Manager, Homelessness, you will lead the growth and delivery of The Salvation Army’s homelessness services, reporting to the General Manager, classified at SCHADS Level 8, and leading a team of five direct reports.
How you will make an impact
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all homelessness services in Tasmania.
- Lead service development, growth, funding opportunities and successful tenders.
- Build strong relationships with government, peak bodies and community stakeholders.
- Embed national frameworks, research, evaluation and outcome measurement.
- Ensure effective governance, risk management, financial performance and contractual compliance.
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team and positive organisational culture.
- Represent The Salvation Army across the homelessness sector and advocate for people experiencing homelessness.
- Collaborate across The Salvation Army to strengthen integrated services and client pathways.
What you will bring
You are a values-driven senior leader with strong experience in social or community services and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.
You will have:
- A relevant degree in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant management experience.
- Strong knowledge of the homelessness and/or social housing sector.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, service development and operational management.
- Proven ability to build partnerships with government and sector stakeholders.
- Experience with funding opportunities, tenders, governance and risk management.
- Strong people leadership, communication, advocacy and influencing skills.
- Working with Vulnerable People checks
- Experience participating in relevant community, government or sector bodies.
