Job Summary:

The Student Administrative Support position with the Writing, Literature, & Language Department includes planning and executing various projects for the instructors and for the programs within the department. The position requires regularly scheduled weekly hours in Swenson Hall, but the projects and tasks will vary throughout the semester.


The position will start at 10 hours/week and adjust based on need. The pay rate starts at $11.00/hour with the opportunity for performance raises yearly.

General duties:

-Creating documents using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
-Communicating by phone and email to promote the programs
-Designing displays and posters for the programs and their events
-Researching online
-Copying, scanning, other clerical duties

The ideal candidate for this position meets many of the following:
-is enrolled at least half time for UW-Superior classes;
-has a working knowledge of basic programs (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and office equipment (e.g. copiers, scanners);
-can communicate professionally by phone, email, and in person;
-has an ability to design promotional displays and posters;
-has exceptional writing and editing abilities;
-is productive and able to self-manage;
-has initiative to start new projects and see them through;
-is responsible and organized;

The University will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except that the identities of ‘final candidates’ must be revealed upon request. According to the Attorney General, ‘final candidates’ under Wisconsin law means the five candidates who are considered most qualified for the position. See Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.36(7)(a).

Employment will require a criminal background check, and if you have prior work history within the last seven years with Universities of Wisconsin or State of Wisconsin agencies, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. It will also require your references to answer questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment. The University reserves the right to check references with notice given to the candidates at the appropriate time in the process.
