The Social Media Marketing Specialist, under general supervision, coordinates the departmental strategic communications plan and assists in developing prospective student communication across all communication mediums, including but not limited to social media, email, text, mobile app, and print. Serves as a Campus Security Authority.

This is an in-office position located on Tarleton State's main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am-5 pm or as work requirements may indicate.

Responsibilities:

30% Works with key campus stakeholders to ensure social media communication aligns with the needs of prospective students interested in Tarleton State University, which includes specialty populations.

20% Manage the @TarletonBound and @Tsu_Cogs social media content calendar. Coordinate with other departments across campus to increase post submissions from staff, faculty, and students. Work with the Enrollment Communications student intern team to create social content.

15% Develops and implements social media platform strategies that align with the Enrollment Management communication strategy and manages the social media presence for Enrollment Management. Work with the Enrollment Communications student intern team to create social media content.

15% Create and execute multimedia projects with an emphasis on video storytelling. Manage the Tarleton Bound YouTube page, develop a video production calendar, ensure media adheres to Tarleton brand standards, and repurpose video content for use on the website, social media, and digital marketing.

15% Assists in division print projects that include postcards, mailers, university viewbook, university guides, etc. Will help in the design process using InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc.

5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of related experience in e-marketing/web communications and e-marketing campaigns that use pay-per-click and electronic newsletters.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, computer information systems, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong attention to detail. Excellent presentation, writing, and editing skills with the ability to proofread and edit for grammar and style. Comfortable writing clear and effective content for the web, email, and print communication, as well as educational content directed towards prospective students.
• Must be able to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities while meeting deadlines. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Must be able to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to think creatively about communicating an organization’s message and brand. In-depth understanding of the digital and social media marketing and communications landscape.
• Experience in project management. More than two years of experience in copy-editing, managing web content, and creating communication for various media (text, website, social media, etc.).
• Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer network and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system, if applicable.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Salary Range:

The target base annual salary range is $48,592.50 up to $61,940.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
