Working with population-based administrative health data, the successful candidate will lead epidemiologic analyses using comprehensive RAMQ and MED-ECHO linked databases containing more than a decade of longitudinal health information.

This position is funded by the Rossy Cancer Network as part of its mission to improve the quality of cancer care for populations served by the McGill Academic Health Network. The successful candidate will generate evidence to support health system planning, quality improvement initiatives, and policy decisions aimed at enhancing the accessibility, effectiveness, and quality of cancer care.

The incumbent will be co-supervised by Professor Talía Malagón and Professor Armen Aprikian and will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and trainees.

Interested candidates should submit (upload in Workday):

  • a current curriculum vitae;

  • the names and contact information of two academic referees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of population-based epidemiologic studies examining cancer diagnosis, treatment patterns, healthcare utilization, quality of care, and patient outcomes across the cancer continuum.

  • Conduct advanced statistical and epidemiologic analyses using large-scale administrative health databases, including RAMQ and MED-ECHO linked datasets, to generate high-quality evidence that informs cancer care delivery and health policy.

  • Develop innovative research questions, analytic strategies, and methodological approaches related to cancer health services research, healthcare quality assessment, and population health outcomes.

  • Lead the preparation of manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and contribute to the dissemination of research findings to academic, clinical, and policy audiences.

  • Present research results at national and international scientific conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings, contributing to knowledge translation and evidence-informed decision-making.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, clinicians, trainees, and healthcare partners to advance research initiatives focused on improving the quality and accessibility of cancer care.

  • Contribute to the development of competitive grant applications, fellowship proposals, and research funding opportunities that support ongoing and future research activities.

  • Mentor graduate students and research trainees in study design, data analysis, interpretation of findings, and scientific writing.

  • Support the ethical and regulatory conduct of research activities, including preparation of research ethics submissions, data access applications, and project-related documentation.

  • Engage in professional development activities, including the pursuit of external fellowship and salary award opportunities, to establish an independent and impactful research profile.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Health Informatics, Cancer Research, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.

  • Minimum of three years of research experience (including graduate studies) in health services research, cancer research, epidemiology, or related quantitative health research fields.

  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative data analysis using large longitudinal and population-based health datasets, including the application of advanced statistical methods such as survival analysis and longitudinal data analysis.

  • Proficiency in statistical programming and data management using software such as SAS, R, or Stata, with strong skills in data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis.

  • Evidence of scholarly productivity, including experience writing and publishing manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

  • Excellent scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills in English, with intermediate proficiency in reading French.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams, with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to scientific rigor, research excellence, and methodological integrity, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
