Overview:

Mitel is seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Specialist to join its global Compliance and Data Protection organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and Group Data Protection Officer, this role will play a key part in strengthening Mitel’s enterprise-wide data governance and digital compliance framework.

As regulatory requirements continue to expand across data protection, cybersecurity, operational resilience, AI governance, and data management, this position will help ensure Mitel maintains a consistent and effective approach to compliance with frameworks including GDPR, DORA, NIS2, the EU AI Act, the Data Act, and related global regulations.

Working closely with Legal, Information Security, IT, Product Management, Procurement, Engineering, Risk Management, and business stakeholders, you will translate complex regulatory obligations into practical governance frameworks, policies, controls, and operational processes. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys solving complex regulatory challenges, driving governance initiatives, and enabling innovation through compliance-by-design.

Responsibilities:

Data Governance & Regulatory Compliance

• Design, implement, and maintain Mitel’s enterprise data governance frameworks.

• Translate regulatory requirements into practical policies, standards, controls, and operational procedures.

• Support compliance with GDPR, DORA, NIS2, the EU AI Act, the Data Act, and other emerging digital regulations.

• Establish and maintain governance frameworks covering data ownership, accountability, stewardship, and decision-making processes.

• Perform gap assessments and identify opportunities to improve governance maturity across the organization.

• Maintain regulatory inventories and monitor changes in the legal and regulatory landscape.

Data Governance Program

• Develop and maintain policies and standards related to Data Governance.

• Promote standardization and consistency across governance processes.

• Support implementation of governance requirements throughout the project, development, and operational lifecycles.

AI Governance & Emerging Technologies

• Support implementation and continuous improvement of Mitel’s AI Governance Program.

• Maintain AI inventories and governance records.

• Coordinate AI risk assessments and compliance reviews.

• Advise stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and governance requirements related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

• Assist in implementing governance controls required by the EU AI Act and related regulations.

• Promote responsible, transparent, and trustworthy use of AI across the organization.

Operational Resilience & Cybersecurity Governance

• Collaborate with Information Security and Risk Management teams to ensure alignment between data governance and cybersecurity frameworks.

• Support implementation of DORA and NIS2 governance requirements.

• Assist in identifying and governing critical data assets supporting important business services.

• Participate in resilience, risk assessment, incident management, and third-party oversight activities.

• Support governance of data-related operational resilience controls.

Compliance Monitoring, Audit & Regulatory Engagement

• Coordinate internal compliance reviews and governance assessments.

• Support regulatory inquiries, external audits, customer assessments, and certifications.

• Assist in preparing evidence and documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.

• Develop governance metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and management reporting.

• Monitor remediation activities and follow-up actions resulting from audits and assessments.

Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness

• Act as a trusted advisor to business, technology, and operational teams on data governance and compliance matters.

• Deliver training and awareness programs related to data governance, AI governance, and digital regulation.

• Promote a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and responsible data use.

• Facilitate collaboration between Compliance, Legal, IT, Security, Procurement, Engineering, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

Skills, Experience & Knowledge

• University degree or equivalent professional experience in Compliance, Law, Information Security, Risk Management, Audit, Data Governance, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in compliance, data governance, privacy, cybersecurity governance, risk management, or regulatory affairs.

• Strong knowledge of:

  • GDPR

  • NIS2

  • DORA

  • EU AI Act

  • EU Data Act

  • Information Governance principles

• Experience designing or implementing governance frameworks, policies, or compliance programs.

• Experience supporting audits, assessments, regulatory reviews, or control testing activities.
