Über diese Backend Tech Lead Stelle bei Infinum
We are looking for an experienced leader to drive successful project delivery through technical excellence while helping team members grow.
We’re a team of 40 backend engineers working in autonomous teams, each focused on its own projects and areas of expertise, while sharing knowledge and best practices across the department.
We build APIs, admin dashboards, third-party integrations, and internal tools that keep things running behind the scenes. Our tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, Java with the Spring Framework, and .NET. PostgreSQL is our go-to database, but we work with various technologies, including Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, DynamoDB, and cloud services like AWS Lambda and Azure Functions for more complex use cases.
Our projects range from financial services and EV chargers to smart home appliances and systems that restaurants and hospitality businesses rely on every day. Whatever we build, we prioritize clean, well-tested code and generate API documentation from tests, so it always matches the implementation.
Being AI-native isn’t just a buzzword here. We use Claude daily and follow Pragmatic Spec-Driven Development, our in-house AI workflow: understand the requirements, agree on the design, plan the implementation, then build and validate. We build MCPs and our own agents, and help clients with their AI transformation, too. At our last AI hackathon, six teams built projects in a single day, and much of what they created is still in use.
We work closely with Frontend, Mobile, DevOps, Design, and QA teams, and always make time for learning through workshops, Lightning Talks, and internal presentations. The only things we like more than high-quality software and automating boring tasks are team lunches, board games, and the occasional cocktail o’clock.
An ideal candidate is someone who can balance delivering great results for clients on complex, large-scale projects with helping team members grow, learn, and do their best work. If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.
Your responsibilities:
- act as a bridge between the development team, client architects, and other vendor teams, ensuring technical decisions are clearly understood, aligned, and carried through
- own the technical direction of the backend, from software architecture to key design decisions, carefully weighing the tradeoffs involved
- communicate technical decisions clearly to clients and stakeholders, and speak up when a proposed solution isn’t the right one
- champion the use of AI across the team, keeping up with the latest developments and turning new tools and practices into real improvements in how we deliver
- set and maintain engineering standards for code reviews, testing, and coding conventions to ensure consistent, high-quality team output
- define the technical scope of projects and contribute to project estimation
- mentor and support team members, helping them grow in their craft
- collaborate with other Tech Leads and the Team Director on team-wide topics and initiatives
- share knowledge through internal education, Infinum Talks, or blog posts
- take part in hiring and help evaluate candidates
Requirements

- in-depth knowledge of Java
- experience leading at least one complex project involving performance, scale, a large domain, or multiple teams and services
- experience in defining or significantly shaping system architecture
- a solid understanding of distributed systems
- experience working on large client projects involving multiple vendors and stakeholders
- experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- hands-on experience with AI tools in development and a clear understanding of how they’re changing the way teams work
- a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
- excellent command of English
- excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings
