What’s the role

As a Tax Specialist (UK), you will support the delivery of UK Tax Reporting and Compliance activities, primarily as a preparer of UK legal entities and Areas of Operation (AoOs). The role requires strong stakeholder management skills, a good understanding of direct tax compliance and reporting, and the ability to work effectively across multiple priorities while ensuring accurate and timely delivery of tax activities.

 

What you’ll be doing

• Prepare tax returns and tax reporting for UK-based legal entities and Areas of Operation (AoOs).
• Ensure sound HSSE practices in day-to-day work.
• Support business and process responsibilities while ensuring relevant performance metrics are achieved.
• Understand Group Accounting and Reporting changes and incorporate relevant changes into tax processes.
• Maintain ownership of key tax assumptions, work instructions, and training frameworks, ensuring they remain up to date and robust.
• Lead, manage, and support the transition of new or additional direct tax activities.
• Support the identification, prioritization, and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to achieve process targets and efficiency gains.
• Prepare tax returns, tax provisions, and related controls while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
• Support the delivery of UK Corporate Tax and Petroleum Revenue Tax compliance activities.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and communicate technical and process matters clearly.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines, particularly during peak tax return preparation and reporting cycles.
• Stay informed of accounting, reporting, and tax developments relevant to the role.

 

What you bring

• Recognized professional qualification and membership of a recognized accounting body with 1-2 years of broad professional experience; experience in migrated tax or finance activities within multinational companies or professional firms would be an advantage. Could also be a CA (Inter), Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance with 4-5 years of broad professional experience, including at least 4 years of experience in migrated tax or finance activities within multinational companies or professional firms.
• Working knowledge of one or more tax jurisdictions; knowledge of UK taxation would be an advantage.
• Ability to understand and prepare tax returns, tax provisions, and related controls.
• Ability to multitask, plan, and prioritize across various responsibilities.
• Ability to articulate technical and process-related matters to senior stakeholders.
• Resilience and the ability to perform effectively within short timelines, particularly during tax return preparation cycles.
• Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), UK GAAP, tax accounting practices, and group reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of control frameworks, including SOX controls and controls within a tax environment.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to understand the architecture of various IT systems and tools and leverage them to support automation, continuous improvement, and efficiency initiatives.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate tax compliance matters clearly.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across business and finance teams.
