Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Exchange Supply Chain, the Supervisor, Production Parts Recovery is responsible for leading a team of Material Supply Coordinators (MSCs) focused on minimizing production downtime and ensuring the timely resolution of material constraints impacting OEM operations.

This role provides leadership, direction, and escalation support for production recovery activities, including missing parts requests, inventory discrepancies, part reallocations, urgent sourcing requirements, and material-related production disruptions. The Supervisor partners closely with Production, Materials Management, Inventory Control, Procurement, and Warehousing to ensure production requirements are met while balancing operational costs, customer commitments, and business objectives.

The position combines people leadership, operational oversight, problem-solving, and continuous improvement to maintain production flow and support financial and operational performance.

Job Description:

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Material Supply Coordinators.
• Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans for team members.
• Monitor team workload, resource allocation, and recovery activities to ensure timely resolution of production material issues.
• Support employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
• Foster collaboration across Production, Materials, Inventory Control, Procurement, and Warehouse Operations.
• Develop team capabilities in problem solving, stakeholder communication, inventory management, and production recovery processes.
• Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Production Parts Recovery & Operational Support

• Lead the resolution of all production material shortages, missing parts requests, and unexpected work order material variances.
• Provide direction and oversight for escalation management involving production-critical material constraints.
• Ensure timely sourcing, expediting, receiving, and delivery of required materials to production.
• Oversee prioritization of electronic Missing Parts Requests (MPRs) to minimize technician downtime and protect customer promise dates.
• Guide identification and execution of part reallocations, work order swaps, and alternate sourcing solutions.
• Partner with Inventory Control and Warehouse Operations to investigate inventory discrepancies impacting production.
• Analyze recurring material issues and identify root causes, corrective actions, and process improvements.
• Monitor supplier commitments, Caterpillar recovery plans, and internal fulfillment activities to ensure production requirements are met.
• Balance production downtime risks against recovery costs by evaluating alternative sourcing and logistics solutions.
• Support implementation of new processes, systems, and recovery strategies designed to improve material flow and operational performance.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to production downtime, material availability, recovery effectiveness, and response times.

Safety Leadership

• Champion a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring all employees understand and follow company safety policies and procedures.
• Lead safety discussions, observations, and continuous improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety requirements while supporting operational objectives.
• Promote a culture where safety remains the highest priority across all production recovery activities.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, materials management, inventory control, procurement, logistics, production support, or related operational environments.
• Experience leading teams within manufacturing, remanufacturing, distribution, warehouse, mining, automotive, heavy equipment, or similar industries.
• Experience with Caterpillar products, dealership operations, exchange programs, or parts operations is considered an asset.
• SCMP designation is an asset.
  Strong understanding of inventory management, materials flow, procurement, logistics, warehouse operations, MRP systems, and production planning processes.
• Knowledge of OEM production and material flow processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
• Experience with Infor M3, Tableau, CAT SIS, Parts Viz, or similar operational systems and reporting tools is considered an asset.
• Proven leadership, team development, and change management capabilities.
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage production-critical issues, escalations, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including remote stakeholder management.
