Job Description:

The Department of Economics at Iowa State University is seeking a Student Services Specialist II to support academic and departmental operations. This position coordinates course and student services processes, maintains communications and information, and supports faculty, staff, and students.

In this role, you will serve as a key point of coordination for academic scheduling and records, student enrollment processes, departmental communications, and the day-to-day operation of spaces and resources. You will work with faculty, staff, students, campus partners, and service providers to keep academic and administrative processes organized and running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate course scheduling and changes in Workday, including instructor assignments, room scheduling, course records, textbooks, syllabi, and instructional materials.
• Monitor course enrollment and prepare enrollment reports and other student-related data; coordinate surveys and data collection related to student enrollment.
• Coordinate Student Ratings of Teaching processes, reporting, and data distribution, as well as Canvas access and syllabus approval processes.
• Develop and distribute departmental and alumni newsletters, announcements, and other communications.
• Maintain departmental websites, digital displays, communication platforms, and seminar information.
• Coordinate building access, keys, room and office assignments, space utilization, facilities requests, equipment inventories, and basic technology troubleshooting and support.
• Coordinate departmental meetings, interviews, guest visits, special events, and related travel logistics.
• Support daily department operations by responding to inquiries, maintaining calendars, managing supplies and mail, preparing faculty meeting materials, and taking meeting minutes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience providing administrative support and customer service to faculty, staff, students, or other stakeholders in an office environment.

• Experience with course scheduling, student records, enrollment processes, or other academic administration.

• Experience working with confidential or sensitive information.
• Experience using Workday or similar enterprise systems and databases to maintain records, manage information, and generate reports.

• Experience developing and maintaining websites, newsletters, digital communications, or other departmental communications.
• Experience coordinating meetings, events, schedules, or other administrative activities.
