Starting Pay: $31/hour — higher depending on experience
Position Overview
We are hiring a Structural Steel QC Inspector to support quality control activities in a structural steel fabrication facility. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters and fabricators with strong quality and inspection knowledge may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect structural steel components throughout the fabrication process.
Conduct daily quality checks on completed and in-process work.
Compare materials and fabricated components against shop drawings and project specifications.
Perform dimensional layout inspections and verify proper part placement.
Identify, document, and follow up on nonconforming work in accordance with AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 requirements.
Perform both in-process and final inspections.
Work directly with production personnel to identify quality concerns and determine appropriate corrections.
Assist with quality improvement efforts and initiatives.
Support preparation for and participation in annual AISC QC audits.
Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and construction drawings
Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and quality standards
Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred
Senior-level structural steel fitting or fabrication experience may be considered in place of direct QC experience when accompanied by strong quality knowledge
