Position Overview:

Reporting to Manager, Corporate Accounting, you will work cross functionally with Finance Department team members in assisting with the preparation of monthly Financial Statements and Management reports. This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, process improvement, and month-end close responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of assigned accounting areas, proactively identify and resolve issues, and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Own assigned accounting areas end-to-end, including understanding transaction flows, identifying root causes of issues, driving resolution of process breakdowns, and maintaining accurate accounting throughout the year—not just during month-end close
  • Prepare month end journal entries for assigned areas (including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications, revenue recognition, fixed assets, etc.)
  • Prepare and analyze the corporate consolidation to propose accurate eliminations and prepare related journal entries
  • Act as the subject matter expert for assigned accounting areas, proactively investigating unusual transactions, reconciling variances, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions before issues impact financial reporting
  • Drive timely resolution of outstanding reconciling items, accounting discrepancies, and process inefficiencies by partnering with cross-functional teams and ensuring issues are fully resolved rather than deferred to future reporting periods
  • Prepare and own balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are appropriately researched, documented, resolved, and cleared on a timely basis
  • Develop and execute action plans to address recurring accounting issues, strengthen controls, improve data quality, and prevent repeat occurrences
  • Analyze and present the monthly results to internal stakeholders including the analysis of significant variances year over year or compared to budget/forecast
  • Proactively collaborate with business to determine appropriate accrual journal entries
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required
  • Provide supporting documentation and assistance to internal auditors, year-end audits, and quarterly reviews.
  • Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, assist with report automation and process improvement opportunities

Let's Talk About You:

  • Working toward or has a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 3-5 years of professional accounting experience including experience within a corporate accounting function at a publicly traded company
  • Experience and knowledge in IFRS
  • Experience with multiple currencies and international operations strongly preferred in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of D365 would be an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word and Excel
