Sobre esta vaga de Software Engineering Intern - Cloud IDE (Brno, Czech Republic) na Red Hat
Job Summary:
The Red Hat Dev Spaces team is looking for an Intern interested in Cloud IDEs to join us in Brno. In this role, you will contribute to innovative cloud-native development technologies and open-source tooling, driving the evolution of modern developer workflows. As an intern, you’ll contribute to the IDE side of Dev Spaces, specifically integrating VS Code and JetBrains based IDEs and their related extensions. This long-term internship will give you experience in cutting-edge cloud-native application development, experience with IDE development, integrating AI tools into Dev Spaces, and the opportunity to collaborate closely with Red Hat’s customers and contribute to open-source projects.
At Red Hat, you’ll work in an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, values great ideas, and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully. Freedom and courage are two of our core values — which means you’ll have the space to take risks, explore the unknown, and grow your strengths. But being a Red Hatter is not just about bravery; it’s also about commitment and follow-through.
Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, part-time internship based in the Brno office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is February 2027.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain features for Eclipse Che’s cloud-based development environments
- Collaborate with a global team of engineers, product managers, and community contributors
- Write high-quality, maintainable, well-documented and tested code
- Participate in the Eclipse Che open-source community by contributing code, reviewing pull requests, and engaging in discussions
- Interest in improving developer tooling, specifically IDEs and related workflows
What you will bring:
- You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Czech Republic during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us part-time from February 2027 till January 2028
- Working knowledge of written and spoken English
- Solid programming skills in Javascript, Typescript, or Java (Kotlin)
- Basic understanding containerization technologies (e.g. Docker) or cloud-native development
- Familiarity with using AI tooling to write code, such as Copilot/Claude/Gemini
The following are considered a plus but are not mandatory:
- Experience programming in Kotlin or Java
- Experience with VS Code or JetBrains IDE plugin development
- Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Any experience with open source development
Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximize your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities.
Please apply for a maximum of three internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
