Senior Treasury Manager
At Heartland, we're looking for an experienced Treasury leader to join our Finance team and play a pivotal role in managing funding, liquidity, interest rate risk and securitisation across our banking group.
Reporting to the Deputy Group Treasurer, you'll be responsible for running Heartland Bank’s securitisation programmes, calculating and managing interest rate risk for both the New Zealand Banking Group (NZBG), and Banking Group, and assisting in managing the liquidity of the Bank. You’ll cover for the Deputy Group Treasurer as required.
This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned Treasury professional to step into a broad leadership role with exposure to the Executive team, ALCO, Board reporting, capital markets and strategic funding initiatives.

Treasury sits at the heart of decision-making within Heartland Bank. As Senior Treasury Manager, you'll take ownership of key Treasury functions including securitisation, market risk management and funding activities while contributing to strategic decisions that shape the future direction of the Bank. You'll work across a broad range of Treasury disciplines, partnering closely with Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Legal, Technology and Business leaders throughout the organisation.
What you'll do
Lead securitisation and funding programmes
- Manage Heartland's securitisation programmes and warehouse funding facilities.
- Maintain strong relationships with funders, trustees, rating agencies and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee facility drawdowns, reporting obligations and servicing reviews.
- Ensure hedging arrangements and programme structures remain fit for purpose.
Drive market risk management
- Lead the measurement, reporting and management of interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk across the banking group.
- Provide recommendations on hedging strategies and execute transactions within approved risk limits.
- Ensure compliance with Board-approved risk appetites and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Treasury risk management frameworks.
Support liquidity and balance sheet management
- Contribute to liquidity forecasting and funding strategy.
- Support commercial paper issuance and market transactions.
- Assist with investment portfolio management and associated hedging activities.
- Provide oversight and review of key liquidity reporting and controls.
Influence strategic decision-making
- Prepare and present insights for ALCO, Board and Executive reporting.
- Partner with senior leaders on funding, pricing, risk and balance sheet initiatives.
- Provide Treasury expertise to support strategic projects and business growth opportunities.
- Act as a key escalation point and deputy to the Deputy Group Treasurer when required.
Lead and develop capability
- Coach and develop Treasury team members.
- Foster a strong risk and control culture.
- Drive process improvement, automation and operational excellence across Treasury activities.
Does this sound like you?
You’re a Treasury professional with deep technical expertise and a commercial mindset.
You'll have:
- Extensive Treasury experience within banking or financial services.
- Proven experience managing securitisation programmes and wholesale funding structures.
- Strong expertise in interest rate risk management, hedging and balance sheet optimisation.
- Sound understanding of liquidity management, prudential regulation and Treasury governance.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, governance committees and regulators.
- A collaborative leadership style with experience developing high-performing teams.
- Advanced analytical and financial modelling capabilities, including strong Excel skills.
- Experience working within prudentially regulated banking environments and knowledge of New Zealand and/or Australian regulatory frameworks will be highly regarded.
