Senior Project Manager – Datacenter Growth
What You Will Do
You will lead high-visibility, strategically critical manufacturing growth initiatives that directly impact capacity, scalability, operational excellence, and long-term competitiveness. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving enterprise-level initiatives that enable the business to scale operations by 5x over the next five years, supporting the rapid growth of the Data Center business.
During the first year, a primary focus of this role will be establishing world-class material readiness and supply chain execution processes to ensure manufacturing can scale predictably and sustainably. This includes improving supply continuity, supplier performance, inventory strategies, long-lead material planning, and cross-functional readiness across Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Operations.
This role requires an operations-savvy, cross-functional leader capable of driving end-to-end execution across Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Lean/Continuous Improvement, HR, Finance, and Talent Acquisition while partnering closely with senior leadership.
You will be accountable for project planning, execution, risk mitigation, change control, stakeholder alignment, and value realization while navigating complex environments and aggressive growth objectives.
How You Will Do It
Strategic Growth Leadership
- Translate enterprise-level manufacturing growth objectives into actionable project strategies, milestones, and performance metrics.
- Lead initiatives that expand manufacturing capacity, improve operational scalability, and support a 5x increase in operational output over the next five years.
- Ensure alignment with corporate manufacturing strategy, capacity forecasts, operational readiness plans, and long-term workforce requirements.
- Act as the single point of accountability for end-to-end delivery of strategic growth initiatives.
- Partner with senior leadership to establish growth roadmaps, resource requirements, and execution priorities.
Material Readiness & Supply Chain Excellence
- Lead material readiness planning across all project phases to ensure materials, components, and supplier capacity align with production ramp-up schedules.
- Establish and drive material readiness reviews, escalation processes, and supply-risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Procurement, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to improve supplier performance, inventory optimization, and long-lead material management.
- Develop supply chain strategies that support aggressive capacity expansion while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Identify and resolve material constraints that could impact project milestones, customer commitments, or operational growth targets.
- Implement metrics and governance processes that improve forecast accuracy, supply continuity, and operational readiness.
Project Leadership & Execution
- Embed Lean thinking throughout all project phases utilizing Johnson Controls Business System practices.
- Schedule and lead project kickoff meetings, steering committees, and recurring stakeholder reviews.
- Provide executive-level project status reports to senior leadership.
- Administer the complete lifecycle of assigned projects from initiation through closeout.
- Organize, track, and communicate critical information across operations and manufacturing functions.
- Manage multiple concurrent priorities and complex cross-functional dependencies.
- Use analytical, leadership, and change management skills to ensure projects meet objectives while managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and hold teams accountable for achieving business objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead project teams and stakeholders across the business to achieve project objectives and strategic growth priorities.
- Provide direction, alignment, and accountability for cross-functional deliverables, risks, decisions, and execution plans.
- Engage deeply within key functions when required while maintaining enterprise-level coordination across all impacted organizations.
- Resolve barriers, manage competing priorities, and drive timely decision-making to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Foster collaboration and alignment between Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Finance, HR, and other stakeholders as project requirements evolve.
Project Planning, Governance & Execution
- Develop project charters, integrated schedules, financial models, and risk management plans.
- Establish governance mechanisms and executive review processes.
- Manage project scope, schedule, resource allocation, and capital investment adjustments.
- Drive accountability across all workstreams to ensure milestone achievement.
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Build proactive mitigation strategies for schedule, material, supplier, capacity, and execution risks.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Maintain disciplined change-control processes across all project phases.
Budget & Capital Project Oversight
- Manage multi-million-dollar capital and operational investment budgets.
- Track project expenditures, forecasts, variances, and return on investment.
- Partner with Finance to develop financial models and support strategic investment decisions.
Operational Readiness & Ramp-Up
- Oversee commissioning, validation, startup, and production ramp-up activities.
- Ensure readiness across training, quality systems, maintenance programs, supply chain, and manufacturing operations.
- Drive structured launch and ramp-up plans that achieve growth objectives while maintaining customer commitments.
What We Look For
Required
- 10+ years of experience in project management, manufacturing, operations, engineering, supply chain, or capital project leadership.
- PMP certification.
- Proven success leading large-scale manufacturing growth, operational transformation, or capacity expansion initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience driving material readiness, supply chain performance, and operational scaling efforts.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence across functions and organizational levels.
- Expertise in manufacturing systems, operational excellence, and project governance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing significant capital investments.
Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting rapid-growth manufacturing environments.
- Experience in data center, HVAC, industrial manufacturing, or highly configurable product environments.
- Background leading supply chain transformation, production readiness, or large-scale operational expansion programs.
