Job Summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide advanced, patient-centered occupational therapy services across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role is designed for an experienced clinician who brings strong clinical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes within a collaborative healthcare environment.

The Senior Occupational Therapist practices within the professional scope defined by the Georgia Occupational Therapy Practice Act, partnering with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to evaluate patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans that support functional recovery and independence. This role plans, implements, and evaluates occupational therapy interventions to maximize patient functional outcomes and ensure continuity of care across the rehabilitation continuum.

In addition to providing direct patient care, the Senior Occupational Therapist demonstrates advanced clinical competency within a defined specialty area and supports the department through clinical leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight within assigned service areas. This role serves as a key resource for complex clinical decision-making and contributes to maintaining high standards of care within the Occupational Therapy Department at Grady.

The Senior Occupational Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive occupational therapy services for patients referred to the department while coordinating with physicians, initiating appropriate referrals, monitoring therapy consults, and ensuring care delivery addresses patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced occupational therapy evaluations and treatment interventions for patients across inpatient and outpatient settings

  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, clinical progress, and functional outcomes

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient-centered care

  • Demonstrate advanced clinical expertise within a specialty area and provide guidance for complex cases

  • Monitor, screen, and follow occupational therapy consults within assigned service areas

  • Support departmental operations through clinical leadership, mentorship, and administrative collaboration

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards

  • Deliver care that addresses patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from an Occupational Therapy program accredited by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) or the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

  • Licensed or license-eligible as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Georgia, with proof of Georgia licensure required at the commencement of employment

  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical occupational therapy experience

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a teaching hospital or academic medical center

  • Demonstrated area of clinical expertise through advanced professional experience and/or additional certification

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) or more additional years of experience in a teaching hospital environment
