Primary Objective
Responsible for optimizing, maintaining, and improving AOI systems to ensure product quality, reduce defects, and improve manufacturing efficiency in SMT/PCB/electronics production environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. AOI Program Development & Optimization
- Create, modify, and maintain AOI inspection programs.
- Fine-tune inspection parameters to improve detection accuracy.
- Reduce false calls and escape defects through continuous optimization.
- Validate new AOI programs during NPI (New Product Introduction).
2. Process Monitoring & Improvement
- Analyze AOI inspection results and defect trends.
- Identify root causes of recurring defects.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance yield and quality.
3. Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Troubleshoot AOI equipment, software, and process-related issues.
- Support production teams in resolving quality concerns.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors for technical escalations when necessary.
- Ensure minimum equipment downtime.
4. Quality Assurance
- Monitor inspection effectiveness and process capability.
- Verify AOI defect classification accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
5. New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support process qualification for new products.
- Develop inspection strategies for new assemblies.
- Perform program validation and capability studies.
- Collaborate with Process, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers during product launches.
6. Equipment Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities.
- Monitor AOI machine performance and calibration status.
- Ensure spare parts availability and service readiness.
- Maintain equipment documentation and maintenance records.
7. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Generate yield, defect, and machine performance reports.
- Analyze KPI trends such as:
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
- Defect Per Million (DPM)
- False Call Rate
- Escape Rate
- Machine Utilization
- Present findings and improvement actions to management.
8. Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Train operators and technicians on AOI operation and defect identification.
- Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical coaching to production teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Manufacturing Engineers
- Process Engineers
- Quality Engineers
- Production Supervisors
- Maintenance Technicians
- Customers and Suppliers (when required)
