Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking candidates for a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager position on a new contract supporting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its critical mission needs. 

As a Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing application stability, reliability, and testing excellence while managing both QA engineers. This role combines senior‑level leadership, technical oversight, team management, and direct engagement with customers to support high‑quality delivery across the QA functions. 

This role requires 3 days in office at GDIT Gaithersburg location and/or FDA White Oak campus. 

Responsibilities 

• Lead, manage and mentor QA engineers and automation testers, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback. 

• Ensure QA practices and testing outputs adhere to FDA security, governance, and data‑protection requirements, including structured review workflows and regulatory processes. 

• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, RTMs, scenario‑based testing scripts, validation packages, and release readiness criteria for multiple FDA workstreams. 

• Design and implement test automation strategy and manage the implementation of automation test coverage. 

• Validate that releases meet regulatory criteria for accuracy, traceability, controlled workflows, and readiness for UAT and production deployment. 

• Partner with FDA leads, program managers, and scientific reviewers to ensure testing practices support FDA mission outcomes. 

• Oversee functional, regression, end‑to‑end (E2E), performance, and UAT testing cycles; ensure published test results meet program quality standards. 

• Coordinate parallel testing for DME, O&M, Facilities, Microbiology, and AI‑enabled workflows across sequential and parallel development tracks. 

• Manage defect triage, root‑cause analysis, prioritization, remediation tracking, and regression verification across all FDA applications. 

• Provide defect visibility to PMO, technical leads, and government stakeholders; ensure risks and blockers are escalated promptly. 

• Deliver clear QA status reporting, quality dashboards, defect metrics, and readiness assessments to FDA stakeholders, PMO leadership, and cross‑functional teams. 

• Champion continuous improvement of testing standards, processes, and documentation across FDA workstreams. 

 

 Required Qualifications and Experience: 

• Bachelors and 10+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree) 

• 5+ years of experience in the development and execution of test plans and test scripts for Web-based applications 

• 3+ years' experience with Atlassian software such as JIRA and Confluence 
• People management experience required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust which requires 3 out of the 5 years of US residency 

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience: 

• FDA experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Acceptance Test Driven Development (Gherkin), Behavior Driven Development 

• Agile / Scrum (workflow Rally or JIRA) 

• Strong verbal and written communication skill 

 

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
